The Hells Angels are basically the Mafia on motorcycles, they are not only a motorcycle gang, but a criminal organization that is involved in drug dealing, extortion, murder, you name it. They have chapters all over the place, including in Australia. I've read quite a few books about it all, the Hells Angels main rival is The Mongols Motorcycle club, the two gangs got into a melee at Harrah's Casino in Laughlin Nevada in 2002, three people died. If you want a clear picture of that life, I suggest you read "Under and Alone" by William Queen, Queen was an ATF Agent that managed to infiltrate The Mongols, and also read "No Angel" by Jay Dobyns, Dobyns was an ATF Agent that infiltrated the Arizona chapter of the Hells Angels and he actually met Sonny Barger while undercover.

    William Queen

I did watch a Youtube video, I think this is the guy, around two or three years ago. Amazing story how he had the cunning to successfully infiltrate a gang like this. Sort of like a Joe Pistone type, but I'd say that Pistone's job was a lot more difficult.

This guy Queen even went on to infiltrate other gangs after this job.

Joe Pistone, aka Donnie Brasco, definitely much worse, guy had some stones on him, he was undercover for six years with stone cold killers, intense stuff.

Okay now how about David Gilmour and Roger Waters relationship?
I’ve heard some bad things about Waters lately but admit I don’t really know much about it. Controversial comments or something.

Long history of antisemitic comments and even did a performance in Berlin where he displayed a swastika.

He also wore a Nazi SS uniform.

I did say earlier that Led Zeppelin is the best IMO, but I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the body of work The BeeGees put out for themselves and other artists.

Robert Plant and Axel Rose have great voices and similar styles that fit their music beautifully, but neither belongs in the same conversation with Art Garfunkel.

    The Who

    Better than The Beatles!

    Better than The Rolling Stones!

Better than Led Zeppelin.....with apologies to Jack Black ;)

    Better than everyone else!

Oh, did I say the best rock band of all time is the Who?

Yea, the best rock band of all time is The Who!

Tough call depending on the parameters. Certainly the Beatles for innovation. Definitely AC'/DC for life performances.

But overall considering the talent, sound, uniqueness, and possibly 3 out of 4, arguably 4 out of 4 GOAT musicians in one band, I'd have to go with Led Zeppelin.

I've seen a good number of live concerts over the years. Never saw AC/DC live, but I have watched their concerts and concert clips on YouTube.

Besides their great music, one thing I really, REALLY, like about an AC/DC concert is they never get "cute" with their concert music. They play it as was done on the record, and that's what I want to see.

Angus of course goes crazy with his individual solos at times, and I love it. Because it never interferes with the overall presentation of the song, it simply adds to it. The song itself always still gets played out in full. No cutesy acoustic BS, changing the tempo BS, etc.

I saw AC/DC live at Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio, TX on June 3, 1991; Razor's Edge tour. Sat about 20 feet in front of the left-side speaker tower.....couldn't hear for a week after!

The WHO is up there with the great full dead as one of the worst bands of all time. Both bands singers and music is bad.

Neil Young by himself is 100x better.

However no bass player is as good as John Entwistle

    My best rock singers…….

    Jon Anderson - Yes
    Plant - Zeppelin
    Rogers - Bad Company
    Bono - U2

Heart of the Sunrise by Yes and Starship Trooper have incredible vocals. Plant has many great vocals too. Rogers and Bono are fantastic.

I've read that Van Halen was the same way at their concerts. Ear splitting.

Wasn't any need for that considering the great sound.

My first concert was Grand Funk Railroad after the Closer To Home album, 1970.
My ears rang for 2 days. A band called Bloodrock opened for them.

You perhaps should consider that although their albums produced some incredible songs consistently and they produced incredible music, they are way down the list of bands that gave incredible live performances.

Seattle 1977 was a disaster and many other shows because of Page mostly.
Great studio band. Bad live performance band.

Saw these guys twice, the FOX in Atlanta and at Ladd Stadium, Mobile....early '70s

That song Rambling Man is special.
A real good vibe to it.

No Doobie Brothers or Charlie Daniels ?

Black Water is another special song.

For me personally #1 Led Zeppelin not even close,
A rock band that did not encounter any disasters from with in ,,,
if so could they really be considered a rock band then ?
