Billy Wagner PSA 10 1994 SP Help with pricing pop 4

Hey guys. Just scored this at PSA. There are only 4 10’s and one hasn’t sold in years. Any guess on price? Would you auction it or set fixed price? Would guess this would sell for over 1k. 9’s are just shy of $200. Thanks Joe

I've been looking into submitting a handful of Wagner rookies...I have a stack of about 100...Topps, Topps Gold, SP, Upper Deck, etc...I would set a high BIN price, accepting offers, and see what happen...you can always cancel it at a later date and do an auction...congrats on that nice grade..I am hoping for a couple 9's on the few SPs I submit

Very rare card. I think $1,000 seems about right. HOF next year. The Arod goes for over $7,500 and even though on another thread people are worried about his roids, I just don't think Billy would have the same demand.

I would list it at $1,500 or best offer and see what happens.

Always a good idea to start high, if it doesn't sell, you can drop price or just keep it.

Wagner’s card prices have always perplexed me. Looking at his 94 Bowman’s Best RC, it almost sells for the same as the GOAT Mariano Rivera’s 92 Bowman RC in a PSA 9. Pops are much different, but still. 230 fewer saved and many fewer innings pitched. Played mainly in Houston vs NY.

9 years on the HOF ballet and he still isn’t in (maybe next year since he only needs 5 more votes from this year).

He seems more like a Trevor Hoffman than a Mariano. I don’t get the card prices. Someone help me out. 😔

Excellent add BlindMelon. Congrats. I had these lying around as raw and really was hoping for at least one 10. Or even a 9. Sent 2 that looked the best to SGC hoping for a bump but no luck there.

On another topic, one of my favorite moments from my youth was working radio at a radio station and Blind Melon came for a visit and I just got to linger a few feet from all the goings on and be like whoa, that is Blind Melon. Saw them live once with Live P.I.L and Big Audio Dyamite. Shame it ended so soon. Actually just realized I recently found the ticket.

Yea man. Tive submitted 40 bowman’s best and another 40 perfect upper deck wagners and got 2 10’s and the rest got 8’s etc. all his rookies are super tough in high grade

Had to for it right? Highest offer has been $1500. Not sure when to pull the trigger. That’s a 1350 profit after fees. Don’t get many hits like that

For sure! Hard to say when you bite on the offer, but that is a good margin!

I did shoot you the offer on the PSA 9, but I see we weren’t quite on the same page. 😀

$1500 sounds solid. My problem would be, i wouldn't want to get rid of it. If you want to sell it, then the $1500 would be a great price.

The DIE CUT SP will be the one to have.

I have 3 PSA 9 Finest Refractors and I have 3 Refractors I haven't graded yet.

That is odd. Typically the Bowman’s Best was selected.. Vlad and Rolen being 2 examples from 1995.

Do you consider the UD electric diamond in the top 3? Thinking that is his 3rd best.. SP, Bowman, the.UD electric diamond. Never been a huge fan of the bowman’s best but for some reason PSA chooses them in the sets.

I’ll tell you one thing. I wish PSA would tell you the reason for certain grades. I’ve sent in 42 perfect Bowman’s best. 4 9’s 36 8’s. All had no yellowing on the face. Baffling

It is not just Billy Wagner cards that is for sure. Been a tough grade for a while now. Explanations take time and leave them open to more arguments on grades.

i think its mostly related to market value. after its apparent he will make the hall, "most" everyone will get 8's. i sent in mine 8 years ago and got all 9's. got 3 shaq atomic refractors graded 10's in one grading. they were selling for $15 a piece for raw at the time. no value, great grades. i got 3 atomic refractors of griffey jr graded psa 10's in one grading. $5 apiece raw, no value, great grades.

now i would 8's.
