Gabe Wallace has told how head coach Reid told him to "please breathe," after shots were fired during the team's victory parade

Apparently Andy Reid is just more of a phenomenal fellow than most of us realize

I'm not going to post the video, but one fan made a very nice tackle to take down one of the suspects.

Another video I saw showed three suspects being handcuffed and placed in a police van.

Police say a dispute caused the shooting at a parade celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl win.

    A personal dispute?

Well as disgusting and abhorrent as this was at least it wasn't a premeditated terrorist attack

I have paragraphs of stuff I want to spew out in a very angry way but this isn't the platform for it so I will keep my mouth shut.

While I'm not a Chiefs fan, they won the Super Bowl, and their fans deserved to have a joyous parade and a delightful day.

While the perpetrators and/or the police say it was a personal dispute, in fact the fear struck into the crowd was similar to a terrorist attack.

All I'm going to further say is I hope these criminal vermin are prosecuted on a terrorist level, because that what was actually the result of their heinous crime.

    My thoughts exactly

49 mass shootings so far in '24 and it's Feb 15

our country is out of control and no one has a tried-and-true solution

I do, its an easy 3 step solution.
    1) Federal wait period for gun buys.
    2) Close the gun show loophole.
    3) Stronger federal red flag laws.
Many of these shooters set of every bell and whistle. The Parkland shooter was well known to police. Since the red flag laws in florida failed we need federal red flag laws. We need federal wait periods on gun buys so that loonatics like the Megachurch shooter cannot get access to guns while being treated for Schizophrenia. These three small changes would reduce the number of shootings by a sizeable percentage.

But the left just wants to yell "Ban Guns" and the right just want to cry "Come take them." there is no will to actually solve the issue.

    @RiveraFamilyCollect

sounds great, but it's not nearly that simplistic

if a 6-yr-old in Virginia can waltz into a classroom and open fire on his teacher, then trust me, a thug can get his paws on a firearm regardless of how strict the laws become

would your 3-step proposal make it more difficult? it would. make it impossible? not even remotely. and therein lies the problem.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

  • Sure, plenty of people CAN get around laws, but not everyone. A high number of these shooters acquire a firearm legally. If we had tighter legal protections it will cut down on the occurrence. I doubt anyone would find my simple 3 steps to be too draconian as well. In my experience all gun owners support similar no-nonsense gun regulations.

Comparing my life experience from my birth (in 1956) to the mid 1990s with my life experience from the mid 1990's forward to the present I can say that:

    1. Civil society in the USA (and likely the world) is on the decline;

    2. Morals, ethics, integrity, personal responsibility, looking out for each other, taking care of each other and doing the right and honorable thing are less and less of a presence in the individual, in the private sector and in the public sector; and

    3. Cynically, it appears that the trend away from a Civil Society is intentional and desired by many.

The Matt Damon 2013 film "Elysium" is interesting as it shows an ugly future global society; one towards which the real world in 2024 may be heading towards.

Elysium is a fun one. Matt Damon is future Jesus leading the people of Tijuana Earth in revolt against our techno overlords.

I do not agree with Doomsaying that U.S. Culture is rotting, they have been saying that since 1820. and its always the same complaints "young people today!" or "we used to have morals and convictions!" both of which are non-sense.

You can't ban guns altogether, out of the question, people have the right to protect themselves. Check out this video, thank goodness the innocent home owner was prepared, God only knows what would have happened if he wasn't.

  • We have a constitution that already makes it impossible to ban guns. But we should have strong gun laws regardless. Florida has a 10-20-life law for gun crimes for instance. In Cali if you are involved in a gun incident you can expect to explain it to the judge legal self-defense or otherwise. As a society we do not tolerate those who would break gun laws.

Start prosecuting hard crimes with hard times. When you have a vise president bailing out criminals what the hell do you expect . Look at the crimes where the good people tried to stop crimes and then are then arrested.

Yes. It is never promoted in the media how many instances where this type of protection saved lives.

another view on your 3 step solution:
    1. A right delayed is a right denied. -Dr. Martin Luther King jr.
    2. There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. everything that is legal outside a gunshow is also legal inside. conversely, everything that is illegal outside is also illegal inside.
    3. red flag laws are very scary. they allow the government to confiscate privately owned firearms ex parte. That means that personal property can be confiscated without the defendant being able to have a hearing or provide evidence in their defense. it in effect does away with due process for the target of an allegation.

it is very possible (probable) that the 2022 Bruen decision will eventually make all red flag laws unconstitutional anyways, but it will take time for cases to make it through the legal system.

I in no way support your 3 simple steps. they are draconian in my view. let me ask you a question.

Would you support a waiting period to be able to purchase a book?

let me just say that books can be very very dangerous. perhaps not the book itself, but the knowledge contained within.

Yes, that is great, I'm sure it helped forget some of the pain that those kids are feeling.

This in my view means a heckuva lot more than some multi-billionaire singing star throwing 100k out there because obviously her publicist told her it was a good idea.

Kudos to Patrick Mahomes and his wife. 👍

I don't care much for the Chiefs or Mahomes, but I love what he is doing here. We need many more like Patrick Mahomes in sports helping in their community.
