Thank you. This was what was left of my collection after that fire from hell came and took 89 lives and wiped the town of Paradise off the map in 2018, it was a life changing event for myself/family. This forum stepped up with a go fund me account for my family and it will never be forgotten. To me you all will forever be my family.
As you can see the lion share of my collection I had to leave behind in my 1942 safe in my home, we were literally running for our lives. The safe was rated @ 2200 degrees so I was hoping for the best but feared the worsted. None of the paper caught on fire in my safe but it made a mess of my holders and anything in a mylar flip. They melted pretty good. That’s when PCGS stepped up and replaced all of the PCGS slabs. NGC also did the same. I have never seen a fire so hot and moving so fast in my life and I hope I’ll never see it again, it was hell.
I will forever be grateful to the good people here on this forum and to the PCGS family for saving my collection❤️

I always love looking at any coin crazyhouddog posts.
I want to point out how remarkable the 1916-P Buffalo Nickel is. It doesn't have that eye-candy appeal the others have, but the strike is absolutely incredible. The reverse is flawless from a strike perspective.

That 1916 is a proof. If I remember correctly a 65.

Yes in fact that 16 is a proof 65. jJust something about its originality drew me to it. I just had to have it. It doesn’t really go with the rest of my nickels but I still love it. Only 600 of those were struck.

Isn’t the color of that nickel amazing? Obviously it’s a proof but it’s not behind plastic from a slab so it makes it much easier to pick up the beautiful color it displays. It’s almost perfect. One day I’ll send it in. I’ve own this nickel since it was minted. If I remember right it was in my fathers collection and he left it for me along with many others.
Thank you for the compliment.

That makes sense. I initially thought it might be a proof, but wasn't sure since 1916 matte proofs are so rare.
