GTG - 1888/7 IHC PCGS****Answered****
Tough one today to wrap up these posts. Grateful to all those that participated & contributed commentary.
The 1888/7 is the toughest variety in the entire IHC series (but not the rarest - that’s the MS unique 1871 S-2).
Many of our members don’t do much with IHC’s, so all should be aware there are only 3 PCGS graded MS examples.
In addition to the grade I would like participants to try the “sticker game”. With IHC’s, there could be 2.
Finally, the last pic is only a representation of the variety & is not this coin. Concentrate on the first two pics to come up with the grade & stickers. As usual, the big reveal is tonight.
Good luck!

Instant thought to send to PCGS.
WOW!
Second thought?
Maybe, you want to wait until you go to a big show where PCGS is attending? This way, less risk of losing in the mail.
Good Luck

I suspect they give it the benefit of a rare variety, so AU50. 2 stickers.
Here's the one I used to have. PCGS MS64RB. Sold it along with an 1856 S3 in MS65 and bought a floatplane - it cost me 2 cents!
Surprise result to many, except that grader extraordinaire @Eldorado9. Great eye!
Per Rick Snow: “The coin is an original chocolate brown with the obverse slightly darker than the reverse. There are a few light marks on the obverse. There is a debris strike through which makes the 8th feather indistinct. This is found on about half of the surviving examples. The overdate feature is very bold as is the diagnostic die cud at 9:00. The reverse is relatively mark free.” Pop 5 in AU58 with 3 MS examples higher.

I think its a great example of a rare variety, but truly it doesn't really matter what RS says about it
@Lakesammman: awesome coin! Nice parlay too!

RSL: to most IHC & FE collectors, “RS” opinions do matter. I initiated this thread, so I’ll post what I want. You are entitled to your opinion nevertheless.
