The images are absolutely atrocious, so it is pretty much impossible to tell what is going on with the coin. In some ways I interpret the photos to be of a mis-labeled proof coin, but if that is the case then it is worth far less than a similarly graded MS example. If it is an MS coin, which it likely is, then it wasn't issued in US Mint cellophane since the mint sets were issued in paper and cardboard.
Why can't you wait until an auction closes to ask questions?
People on this forum do post on active auctions all the time. I didn’t do anything wrong as I am not a buyer. I will delete if you want.
If I was bidding on that item, in the hopes of snagging a deal, I might be annoyed that there could be a significant uptick of knowledgeable eyes looking at that auction.

I fail to see the problem. It's a public auction.
It's a courtesy. I think it would be different if someone was highlighting an upcoming auction in a broader scope. Like, "Wow, the sale of Stewart Blay's red copper Cent collection is coming to Great Collections on xxxx date."
But scrutinizing a specific lot is taboo. And you probably know this already.

The OP only buys coins that he thinks will upgrade or CAC. But he is fickle. He'll buy a coin based on a positive comment he receives, then cancel the purchase or return the coin because of a negative comment. It's a huge waste of time for everyone involved, particularly the eBay sellers. The sellers are offering certified coins in good faith - it's not fair to waste their time with cancellations/returns just because the OP decided that he doesn't think the coin will upgrade or CAC.
Case in point: the OP purchased a 1947 50c PCGS MS65 CAC because he thought it would upgrade. He did a GTG to mine the Forum for grading opinions, and after too many people said it looked like an MS65, he returned it.
I'm getting more than a little annoyed with the increase in "deleted" thread titles and deleted OP comments. It litters the forum with worthless nonsense where the replies have no context.

it’s because the software doesn’t allow you to completely delete a thread. if this were allowed, then it wouldn’t be an issue. Sometimes, people misspeak or don’t want their original content out there, so there’s no other option. I do see your point though…

It seems like it is picking, but if you saw the previous threads, there is more to the story. There were a few cases of using the forum as an approval service on a coin already purchased. If some forum members made comments about the coin not upgrading, then the OP would cancel the sale. This is quite unfair to the sellers. The OP was advised to be smarter and not do this anymore but the posts continued in various formats.

In all fairness to me this was exaggerated and distorted as I cancelled this one and only one purchase due to a forum member pointing out a fingerprint on the coin. I never cancelled any sale due to information by any forum member regarding a coin not upgrading.
I should have used better judgement in my posting not to appear as using the forum as an approval service, but no sellers were really harmed by my actions on this forum and I posted numerous coins that I have purchased and my 100% approval rating on EBay.

But he wasn't criticizing it.
People post GC lots all the time with titles like "where will this auction end" or "how high will it go".
People also post ebay lots all the time asking if a coin is real or has been cleaned. Many times people post eBay auctions and make fun of an error in the listing
All the OP asked is if the coin in question might be an upgrade possibility.
There was NO DISCOURTESY.
And if you read enough threads around here, it is clearly NOT "taboo". And you should probably have noticed that.

We've also had other posters suggest to newbies that they ask for advice before they buy a coin. That's hard to do if you get your legs cut out from under you if you do.

Yeah, I never said he criticized the lot or that he was discourteous in his post. I said it was a COURTESY on these boards to refrain from starting a thread about an active listing until it is over. (And it is) Yes, you'll find threads to the contrary when you fact check me. I may have done it once or twice myself, actually. But it isn't cool. I like this member, as I do all members here, but he keeps doing this over and over, and it has obviously annoyed some folks.

I agree with 90% of what you say. Please don't think I'm picking a fight. But it seems a bit over the top from a couple members, especially in this case where the question was really inoffensive.
Commenting on active listings is not necessarily discourteous.
Posters comment on active companies, people, TPGs etc.
This is social media, many an active listing has been removed because of expert opinion, a valuable and educational result.

If the OP hasn't taken that to heart yet good chance they never will.

I’m not seeing any haze on that coin. The images induce a glare that appears to be haze, but I think it’s fairly blast white.
