How does HiBid differ from eBay?

Both are a platform for others to list and sell coins.

I see complaints constantly about eBay “allowing” counterfeits be listed and sold, so how does HiBid differ? At least eBay actually has a report function on listings one questions…

A few HiBid auction listings from my archive file for reference:

Hibid is 'auction houses' around mostly North America and they choose auction format - timed, live and live in conjunction with their live floor auction.. Some ship, some send to UPS store type shipping, some require pick-up from their facility. They set their own buyers premium and payment method.

It is similar to Proxibid, LiveAuctioneer, AuctionZip .... and some houses run their auctions on more than 1 if they are running live.

HiBid is a pure platform. The individual sellers are responsible for their listings.

Rather than copy them or excerpt them, go read:

I have not looked at HiBid's site or tried reporting so I can't say much.

All online selling venues that allow coin sales should have better means of reporting counterfeits and do better at removing them from the site. Most of them don't do a real good job with it other than the large auction houses. It's hard for many sites to have the resources needed.

Until the government steps in and starts enforcing the laws very little will change. :/
The government doesn't have the time or resources needed to police the problem with how large it has become.
If they would start making "examples" of a few people it might make others think about the risk.

Sounds like any other selling platform.

The seller's terms are a little blunter than most, M. Seller, whatever you do is on YOU!

eBay has fixed endings on auctions - you know what second it will close

hibid extends time after every bid in the last 1-3 minutes

Which means they dodge any responsibility for bad coin listings like the ones in my post...
