Found in the wild... 1909-S Indian Cent
Meltdown

This popped out of an estate sale collection I bought as a group lot... Mostly junk silver, some old incomplete whitman albums of Lincolns with no better dates filled. A few ziplock baggies of 90% got totaled up and calculated, A baggie of mixed wheaties, another with about 20 Indian cents, another with Sac dollars, etc you get the idea.
I took it all home without really looking close at the junky stuff... when I emptied out the wheats and started looking, well
It's been quite a while since I got lucky if you know what I mean...
These photo's are terrible but you get the idea. One set shows off the details pretty well, the 2nd set has the correct color.

Holy Mackerel! Not just one, but two, and they both look like nice coins.

Same coin, just terrible photos.

Good on you. Once I went through a pile of junk and found an 08 S. It had a lot of tar flecks on it, but you won the lottery with this.

That was a dream coin of mine as a kid as Indians were my first complete set, I remember one of my first big coin purchases was a PCI MS64 RB 09s. In maybe 94. A low end set of the key dates will always have a spot in my randoms box. Nice VF

That coin was waiting for you to find it. Nice! Peace Roy

That makes for a great day, congrats 👍
Nice! I was going through a co-workers husbands collection about 20 years ago after he passed away and found one of those...unfortunately, it had bite marks all the way around it like they were trying to make a pie crimper out of it.
Nice find. Beats the heck out of my COINSTAR finds.

Congrats - awesome find!👍
I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.
Sweet, gotta love that!
Time well spent at estate sale.
Always a great day when something like that happens! Congrats.
You're being to hard on yourself MD, those are very nice images and congrats on your good fortune.

It looks nice as is but it might have an old cleaning under that.
I wouldn't thumb it.
Very fortunate catch!
Congratulations 🎊

Nice find!
Around 10-12 years ago, my brother found an ‘09-S in his yard with a metal detector. It was surprisingly not dark or corroded. He traded it to a dealer for an AU $10 Indian.
I just love it when someone finds something great for cheap. Makes me feel good.
