I have researched this particular coin and I am wondering if someone could answer the following questions:

1) Is the mintage of this coin low from the Durango Mint? I use free and paid services and cannot find this coin with this mint mark. Several examples from the Guanajuato and a few others from other mints can be found, but not this one.

2) Is there a source where I can find the calculated mintage of Mexican Gold coins.

Thanks in advance.

The Krause World Coin Catalog lists mintages for most entries.
However, records for much of the Mexican production from the 1800s and before is spotty.
No mintage figures are listed for any mint of the Mexican 8 Escudos.

Your coin appears to be the 1862/52 (over-date) variety, but it does not list at a higher price than most other dates.
All of the Mexico 8 Escudos gold are scarce or rare. Yours is not priced higher than other dates in the Krause Catalog, so it might not be a lot rarer than average for the type. But catalog prices are not always accurate or a perfect indication of rarity.

Your coin has strike weakness in the center (which is not unusual) for these.
Overall, your coin has a genuine original appearance, and AU-55 grade.
It is nicer than this one that sold on Heritage Auctions:
