PCGS Certification App Scanner question

I Just received a new, to me, PCGS Sample holder from the 2016 HKCS. Curious, I checked the S/N on the PCGS Certification lookup and it showed, not surprisingly, Invalid Cert Number. I tried scanning the bar code and it showed a different coin and s/n.
Is this a common thing to have the bar code and s/n to display different information?
After a quick web search, the sample coin I received does not a unique s/n, like most samples I would presume. Although it does pull up a Lion of England Queen's Beasts 2 oz. Ag.
...or is this a fake label / slab?
