Counterfeit Patrick Roy RC Graded PSA 8?

Hello, just picked this up last week and got it in the mail today.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/355394412020?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=306gnu0orkg&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=_Sm7u4-uS46&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Looking at it, the back is more brown as opposed to white like mostly all OPC cards. I then zoomed in with my camera phone to 20x+ magnification and the "O-Pee-Chee" is kinda blurry compared to a 1986 OPC Steve Yzerman graded PSA 8 I own. Also above the lower right hand logo the Roy is blurry and the Yzerman is sharp.

It came from canada so it didn't go through the ebay authentication process. I haven't contacted the seller yet but he does not accept returns.
Should I open a case with ebay or contact PSA?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I compared it to the image on the PSA website and looks like the same card to me.

  • Oh it's the same card it's just that psa graded what I believe to be a counterfeit card.

you should take that up with PSA then. Very very curious though how this ends though, please update us on your story? If it is indeed a fake always appreciate the analysis so others can avoid the same problem when we buy.

  • The black dot almost exactly above the middle of his helmet is also a given too. I didn't think to look for any of these signs because it was already graded.

  • Here's screen shots of the back of the Roy and a AL Macinnis from the psa website

  • And a shot of them together

    Evening,

I have 4 of these (PSA) and the Back tint is seriously almost faded looking on one of them (NM-MT 8), the next is more tan with white (NM-MT 8, #3 is more WHITE borders with some OC NM 7, AND #4 IS AS WHITE AS THE MACiNNUS MINT 9 ,THE VAGURIES OF THE MANUFACTURING OF ALL OF THES IS SO badly its ludicrous. I would be hard pressed to call any one of these as Fakes.

If you claimed to me what your claiming, I'd tell you not in this unpolite of speech....Go Pound Sand!!!

    Proove It!

    THanks

    YeeHaw!

  • Consider 1986 Topps Baseball. Almost every card in the new boxes I opened is a different shade of red/pink.

Is the registration off on the blurry one? Otherwise, that's a great point about the fine ink. I'm not sprinter guy so I don't know if that actually inkjet but it sure looks NOT sharp like those are supposed to be

I don't know if it holds true for your card but when I was looking at 1985 OPC Lemieux rookies somebody here told me to look at the black lines and the penguin and if they had black print dots it was fake,if it had solid black it was ok. It looks like yours has solid lines, They were right about the Lemieux card, I would not be worried about yours. If you're worried about it, maybe sell it and buy a different one you trust.

  • I was able to return it and get a refund.
