Looking for opinions on these 2 cards, condition, rarity, values, as I am a coin person with limited knowledge of cards. Any input would be greatly appreciated

I'd say the first one from 1969 with yellow last name looks like a grade of 2 out of 10 and should be about $100

You can never go wrong with any vintage Mantle in any condition. It is no 52 Topps worth millions, but it is still very nice to have.
The second one is practically worthless. It wouldn't be worth the shipping cost to sell it.

Well as you know a bad crease on the card, and some other problems. Not an exact analogy, but perhaps like a scratch on a coin, along with some VG type wear.
That being said, every vintage Mantle card is collectible, and is a good find whenever ya find it. 😊
The 69 Mantle will get a grade of 1 today. Any crease whatsoever, gets automatic 1. Still good idea to get it graded and protected from further damage. I would send it to SGC for cheaper and faster grade. Good luck
That is NOT correct. Eye-appeal is part of the equation (not saying with regards to THIS card, just generally), as well, as the length and position of the creases(s). Had a friend that sent in a OPC Gretzky rookie that had 4-5 card wide creases in every direction and it got a 1.5! Kinda like the SAT, you get a 1 just for signing your name! Any minor short crease is an auto PSA 5 at best and then it goes down from there... But I will say with the rouded pokemon corners, a PSA 1 is on the radar!
The second card you show is a modern Mantle made after his playing days, not worth squat in the condition shown. The '69 Mantle though, is an authentic classic, definitely a 2 with the the wear, but add in the long crease and I agree with it would grade a 1 or 1.5. Regardless, it's a great card, and to me, a vintage card with this amount of wear would look terrific in an album with a full set around it of all the cards in like condition. Which actually would be a challenge to assemble with a matched look.
