Does anyone have any other high end comparisons ?

PSA beat it by over 100%
    Almost 200%

no doubt their are some differences in the prices. PSA is the #1 brand. but who got the best deal in this example? lots of room for growth on the sgc.

If it could cross for a PSA 8, it would still gain a few grand in value.. Probably too hairy for a 8.5...

Isn't one listed as a buy it now and the other was an actual auction?

Successful coin BST transactions with Gerard and segoja.

Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.

Thought it was an auction. If you look under the $23,000+ sales price you can faintly see the tops of 40 bids - Ended. Similar to the SGC auction below that has bids-Ended.

    Another one.

Registry maybe? I am not familiar with Pat Quinn. the cards so far I have sold, the SGC price has been about what the PSA price is.

Look at this way. Would you rather have a PSA 6 Nolan Ryan or sgc 7.5? The card looks much better than a 6, at isn't that is what is important? Heck the other day someone switched a PSA 7 to SGC 10. I know the SGC would be more valuable then. And i have had a few that PSA graded slightly better.

To be perfectly honest I don’t know what I’d rather have πŸ˜‚

how about this 1963 sgc 10 pete rose

or 1963 psa 9 pete rose?

SGC 7.5 over a PSA 6 but need to see the cards to make a honest choice

That SGC 8.5 looks like it would be a PSA 7 in my opinion.

I see slight wear on two corners, and possible wear on a third.

I'd need to have the card in hand to be sure.

    Agree but too risky now.
This PSA 6 just sold for $4,250 and looks pretty nice.

I came close to pulling the trigger on this one. Couldn’t figure out why it was a 6. Backed away..

That corner wear, to me, looks like a continuation of the rough cut. Suspect it looks exactly like that out of the pack.
PSA can be hit and miss. - I have 9s that rough cut right to the corner, and cards that were downgraded.

I think SGC got it right, aside from l/r centering that card is mint.

It is the blue smudge, right border. Seems harsh to knock it down 3 grades (assuming everything else looks good in hand).

Do you think it could be the white on the corners from the cut ?
The seller sent me close ups of all four corners and they’re not blue under inspection.

Well if that's correct and it's mint, wouldn't it grade a 9? The centering to me looks like 9 centering.

Admittedly, I have bought very few SGC cards over the years. Over 99% have been PSA - just my preference. Those SGC cards I obtained were just a small part of large lots I bought, and some SGC cards happened to be in there.

I am slabnostic. Buy the better card and couldn’t care less if it is SGC or PSA. In the case of the Gretzky give me the SGC and the difference in price to buy something else great.
