I went out this morning and bought a macro lens at my local camera shop.....nothing professional, but I feel like I should be able to get this down pretty quick. No alteration or adjustments other than an elliptical edit to cut the background out.

Just a raw 1880 Indian Head Cent. Color is a little bright, but I will work on that.

Figured out the mystery of my missing TVs….they showed up last night.

I figured these were not posted because they are embarrassed to say this is their work. PR64RB 1875 Indian cent below.

In real life, this coin nicely toned on the obverse and has a reverse that is 90% red.

PCGS SHOULD be ashamed of this work, but what the hey, they are making tons of money still. I’m done with them until I know things have changed.

I have been disappointed in the last few submissions. Looking at the current crop of TV it feels like there’s no quality control but certainly a lacking color correction and white balance. My pre-submission image vs the TV.

The way the coin actually looks in hand:

Wish I could have played with this one at FUN. John Roberts gave an interesting presentation at VAM Thing XX on the evolution of the various Morgan patterns. I don't know if a recording is available or not.

I had to have it. Mine now! Thanks Phil, and thanks Great Collections!

If PCGS can’t find a new photographer, well that sure sucks for us all. Maybe we should consign our coins to GC for in-house photography. Maybe they’d offer that as a service? I’d pay. Phil’s worth it.

    @ redraider

Phill it is now with GC. The compagny loose a big specialist in photogrphie. The soft still be with them but in order to well apply an expert must coordonate the activity. Give one or two months and you will see will be OK.
