Chiefs bc Miss Taylor wills it
Niners are looking Purdy
Dee-troit, not that Goff will be very good (bc he will), but Mayfield will be back to his old ways with at least 2 INT's and.............

Also here is an article on espn about how H-town got here. All I can say is thank you to Deshaun Watson and Cleveland! Hiring Nick Caserio was also probably the best move the franchise has ever made in combination with DW being traded for a cornucopia of draft picks.

Houston keeps it close with Baltimore but falls short. 27-23 Baltimore

Green Bay keeps it close early but SF pulls away 34-20 SF

Detroit punches TB in the face.
    35-17 Detroit

Flip a coin and it is going to land on Buffalo 6 out of 10 times
    24-23 Buffalo

Hoping and praying for the Packers.

i find it very hard to believe that it's going to be a chalky weekend. look at last weekend's games -- 3 dogs won outright and were it not for the officiating the Rams would have too. the NFL has been so unpredictable all season long, so prepare yourself for at least one upset.

    Baltimore
    Niners
    Detroit
    Kansas City
Would not be upset if Houston upsets. Would not mind a Detroit/Houston SB. New blood.

Ravens are rolling. Lamar 2 TDs passing, 2 TDs rushing and 100 yds rushing. Incredible performance. I cashed a nice bet at Bal -9.5. Thank you, LJ!

The Ravens are the real deal, I think they're going to win it all, and LJ will win MVP this season.

SF secondary is playing like they dont want to be there. Looks like flag football with how many guys have no one anywhere close

pretty bold statement coming from a Bears fan, but i almost............almost............feel bad for the Packers

i'm sure Green Bay fans everywhere are thrilled with Darnell Savage. he dropped a pick 6, got roasted by Kittle for a TD, and whiffed on McCaffrey for another

saw at least 2 other Purdy throws that should have been picked but weren't

    missed FG

can you say snatching defeat from the jaws of victory

it's weird, sometimes you see a play in the 1st quarter and think, welp, that probably cost them the game

They all played in weather today. It was freezing in Baltimore, but if the QB of the 49ers cant handle a little rain than thats just not the guy. It rains a lot there in the winter, if anything that should have been an advantage.

They were fortunate McCaffery saved them and Love didnt have a good game either

I had GB +10 in this one and then kind of cockily placed a ML bet on GB to win in the 4th quarter which offset some of my gains, but I really felt like GB was going to pull this one out.

Tomorrow I like the road dogs: TB +6.5 and KC +2.5. I'm also placing a ML bet on KC.

You can throw Missing that 41 yard FG in there as well.

Now the last play was baffling to me.

2 time outs and 50 seconds to go, no need to panic and Love throws a cross body pass into triple coverage like it was a last second much needed prayer? Why???

Another thing early on when they tried the tush push on 4th and short rather than take the FG and failed, I mean Aaron Jones was running wild and instead of calling a time out and getting themselves set up with a solid play, they hurried everyone up and thinking they were going to get SF off guard and quickly get Love over the line?

I didn't like that at all

We had a happy household last night with the Packers losing.

  • Desert MoonDesert Moon Posts: 5,786 ✭✭✭✭✭

Niners are lucky, they did not play their best in a rainstorm - I hope it was the rain that made Purdy so, off. He finally put it together on the last drive and Niners made the winning TD. Let's hope next weekend they right their ship.

Baltimore is simply scary good. LJ was accurate the whole game. Watch out NFL.........

McCaffrey is a total stud, period. Carolina fans should direct a lot of angst at their management for a, not using McC correctly, then b, trading him. Yikes............

    Today?

Chiefs by 14 making a statement.

Dee-troit, by 21, but only 3 ints by Baker, LOL.

Of all the good things Love did this year his last throw ( 1st down) brings back memories of some of Brett Favre worst throws ever. Just toss it out of bounds and live another down. It was a dying duck with 3 defenders ready. Geez. I sure would have liked to see a few more plays.

My honest observation. Brock Purdy will not win a Super Bowl if he continues playing like last night. If it wasn’t for CMC we’d be talking about the Packers upset. The more I watch I see another system QB that looks like a 7th round draft pick. He can’t create and maybe it was the rain but his accuracy wasn’t very good.
Every other QB in the playoffs was a 1st round draft pick

Every other QB in the playoffs was a 1st round draft pick

Keep in mind he has played in the NFL 1.5 years, there will be ups and downs at that time scale. Last nite was the performance of a good, not elite NFL qb:

And they still won the game. Granted if SF wants to win in the next round, he will have to be more like he was during the season which was top 3 in almost all catergories and #1 in QBR and rating:

And that includes all of those QB's with more years experience and were much higher draft picks, he out did them ALL in the reg season. Last nite, he played as good at Pat Mahomes did ALL SEASON (see above). And Mahomes has won how many SB's?

So he was not at his best last nite, but he still came through when it counted. I am optimistic that he will learn from this, and if it was the rain, he can overcome that with some work. So not too worried and he has the competitive spirit, drive, poise, and smarts to continue to improve in his very young NFL career.

Right now, everything is pointing at Baltimore, and much more experienced Lamar Jackson was superb yesterday, and that bodes well for the next 2 rounds.

Debo got hurt during the game. Purdy needs all the talent around him healthy to be successful. If the right QB hits the market they will replace him. The 49ers and Shannahan spent the offseason trying to convince Brady to come play for them.

It wouldnt be unusual for a SF QB to have a good season or two and ultimate be a bust like Kapernick and Jimmy G

Golly, record qb stats for a Niners qb that includes Steve Young and Joe Montana, yup they will replace him LOL. Best of all qbs in the regular season this year for all teams. Yup he is a bust no doubt.

Kapernick was never as good as Purdy (and kicked out bc of his politics), Garappolo was always hurt, so no comparisons to draw with them.

You can say that about any qb that they need talent around them. Of course they do, it is a TEAM, spelled T-E-A-M game. Doh!

Of course they need talent around him, but he has an insane unheard of amount of talent around him at the moment. He has the best LT in history (by the way they have a losing record when Williams is hurt), Kittle, Debo, Ayuk, McCaffery. Any QB in the league could have success with that roster. His teammates are elevating him, not the other way around.

They would replace Purdy if the right situation comes along, and almost certainly will when he starts to get expensive. They arent going to be giving him 250+ million that QBs are getting on second contracts now.

They already tried to replace him in the offseason with Brady

    See this article:

    https://sports.yahoo.com/after-brock-purdys-clutch-comeback-moment-vs-packers-what-are-his-doubters-going-to-say-now-075723944.html

Bottom line he will have his critics and one can put him down all one wants. But golly, there it was, clutch time, and the young, inexperienced qb named Purdy was perfect in the winning drive and took the Niners further in the playoffs. So criticize all you want, the Niners, under Purdy, won. Because of Purdy. And, he was the best qb in the NFL in the regular season. Both of these things ARE FACT.

    Best paragraph of the article:

"But when the sun comes up on the Monday morning of conference championship week, not a single one will matter. Because Purdy will move on to his second straight NFC title game in his two seasons as a starter. And he’ll have done it by showcasing a brand of resiliency that he has rarely gotten credit for."

This is fact, he is going to start in his 2nd NFC championship, in 2 years in the NFL. Best rated qb in the regular season this year. Fact. Not a single argument against him matters, LOL. And, how many qb's made it to 2 conference championships as a starter in their first 2 years. Yup Purdy is terrible LOL.

    Perspective:

"He bounced back from offseason elbow surgery that left some wondering what he’d look like this season. He banged his way through an ugly three-week stretch of losses in October. He got off the floor after getting his clock cleaned in a Christmas Day slaughter against the Baltimore Ravens. And then, on Saturday, when the Packers had the 49ers reeling, Purdy shifted from throwing against a downpour to fitting balls between raindrops. The resulting drive was one that 49ers players and fans will remember — 6-of-7 passing, with the lone incompletion being a bad drop by tight end George Kittle, and a back-breaking 9-yard run in the red zone that would set up the game-winning touchdown run by running back Christian McCaffrey.

From behind. When the 49ers needed it most. Without Deebo Samuel, who had been lost to a shoulder injury."....................

As mentioned GB did pretty much everything they could to lose that game. Love wasnt good in that game and neither was Purdy. McCaffery bailed them out and Kittle had some massive plays breaking tackles. 49ers got lucky to come out with a win even though they were 10.5 point favorites

Wisconsin 2-6 against the SEC since 2007

  • Desert MoonDesert Moon Posts: 5,786 ✭✭✭✭✭

And yet 49ers won, one can make all kinds of excuses for GB losing, but they lost. That is ALL that matters.
