I have been waiting for years.... finally found my 1841 Large Cent....love at first sight.

This has now turned in to a memorable week in my numismatic life. As if purchasing my first Carson City coin wasn't enough I finally found an 1841 Large Cent for my core collection. It has been quite a while since I have been so excited, I am literally shaking. This coin showed up on Ebay tonight and there were already quite a few people watching it. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to pounce!! I have looked at literally thousands of 1841 Large Cents. They all look like crap. I still remember the one that got away from CRO...a PCGS MS62 CAC that I hesitated for 20 minutes and it was gone.
Well tonight I hesitated for 20 seconds before hitting the BIN button. Mark free...spot free....great color....a perfect PCGS AU55.
Let me know your thoughts about this coin. I am including a picture of the space holder I had as well. No need to upgrade this tough date again

My 1841 was the last date I needed to complete my Late Dates one-per-year set. Wow, that was 14 years ago. Time flies when you're collecting half dimes... and getting old.

Nice get. I hope you continue to enjoy it.

    I love that excited feeling
I’ve had that twice in the last week and it’s exhilarating to know you’ve found an important treasure that means something.

That date is tough in that series, much like the seated halves. Here's mine, an AU-53 example:

Nice-looking coin! I missed my chance at a nice 1841 last weekend. On Day 2 of the show, it was gone.🙁

    That's a really nice cent!
The timing of this thread is serendipitous. I just picked this one up from my LCS today, has some minor rim issues but overall I think it is pretty nice. Not nearly as nice as the one you just got though.

    Great pick up!!

I am a type collector, and I’ve had a very hard time, finding a piece of early copper that appeals to me, so I know the feeling, there’s something very pleasant about a quality piece of early copper.

I got a half cent early January that has me very excited so I know the feeling!

    Congratulations!
