What happens to a coin sent for grading?

If I send a coin for grading and it has dirt or some other fairly innocuous substance on it, will the grading service do anything to it to “clean” it before grading? Thanks. I’m a newbie!

They will only do something with it if you pay for restoration.

Or if it blows off with compressed air/ before encapsulation.

Yeah, the coin will be left alone and graded and put into the holder.

Nothing is done outside of the compressed air before it goes in the slab.
