Advice for first time seller on GC?

My first consignment with Great Collections is coming up for auction soon, and I was debating whether to use the various promotion options that are offered (bold title, highlighted listing and featured homepage presence). My instinct was to go for homepage presence for anything with a minimum bid of $1000 and up. Not sure whether it would be worthwhile for some of the lesser coins. Any thoughts?

Post a list of them on the BST.

Too late for that. Maybe next time.
I've sold a lot of dupes on GC and don't use any bells or whistles. Prices are generally pretty fair.
Actually you can list a link in BST to the GC auction if you want to. Many do that for advertising.

Doh! Thanks for cluing me in. In case it isn't obvious, I'm new at this.
I did pay for some of the extra marketing when I first started selling on GC, but I stopped because it didn't seem to make a difference. It might if you have something unusual or very flashy and want to catch people's eye.
Also, if you are selling something special they will sometimes put it in the rotating banner at the top for free.
Trust the 99c stating bid, nothing brings eyes like the potential for a deal. Then over the course of the week ownership starts to set in after multiple page views and next thing they up their mental max.

When I list expensive coins, over $1000 I do ad the 2, for $5 I think it does help in the sale of the items

I would recommend the minimum starting bid option (99-cents or a dollar) without reserve and let them ride. I also would not spring for any of the promotional stuff on GC. At this point in time GC has a large presence and following and folks will find your coins. Don't worry.

I've sold a good amount on GC. I let them decide on CAC, start prices, etc... I keep it pretty simple, always been happy. Turns out New Years Eve is a pretty decent day to have your lots close too based on my most recent group I sent them!
Huh. I may wait until next week (week of the auction) to see if any of my coins make it onto the banner. I have some modern gold on there graded 70 DCAM that might qualify as very flashy.
Buying on GC for me starts with doing a search, then looking through the results. I don't pay attention to whether a listing is promoted or not.

Don’t waste your money on promotions. If you so desire advertise your coin for fee on the BST but I suspect that’s probably a waste of time.
ITS ONLY $5 what have you got to lose.
I sure hope that statement is sarcasm

GC will make things easy. They will sent your coins in for grading and to CAC if you need. It speeds things up if you use separate forms for each type of service.
Examples.
1 form for each level of service for coins going to PCGS.
1 form for coins needing Variety Attribution.
1 form for coins going to CAC.
1 form for coins that are ready to go straight to auction.
that is some really interesting advice. I never knew that. James
You would still know if the price is "fair".
It really depends on what it is. There's a reason that certain categories on GC have high opening bids.
$5
I've used the banners and highlighted titles before, not sure if it made a difference but the coins were expensive enough that I didnt care about the extra $5.

I let GC set the reserve on my coins. One of them is a 2017-W Gold $100 American Liberty and interestingly, there is another one with the same grade from PCGS that used a minimum starting bid. Both auctions end at the same time, so I'll get to compare the results of both approaches.
Have a link to both coins?

I think you are in the wrong hobby or business if you can’t afford to lose $5 😝
I could have said $V -

Your coin should do better on its own because the other has at least 1 annoying red copper spot
And many of us have lost much more on our coin "investments". So we have that experience and know all about loss.
Let us know how you make out. Most everyone can access the pricing analysis and the smart money will not pay any more for a coin unless it meets certain criteria.
Pretty sure the Romans didn't use dollars.

Good luck with your auction!
Always exciting to try new things and I applaud you for taking the chance.
Your adrenaline will be flowing as you watch the bidding as the auction comes to a close!
It was an inside joke. He hates Latin.
A couple of my coins now have Great Photos, but they are crusty CC Morgans and not the flashy modern gold. Not complaining, just a little confused?

I guess I understand the 1879 for rarity value.
