Boston trades Chris Sale. Finally.

thankfully, the Sale saga is over. Sox traded him for infielder Vaugn Grissom. Glad to be rid of Sale finally. he can miss 2/3rds of the season with a hangnail for Atlanta now.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

    Boston also sends 17M along with Sale to cover most of his 27M 2024 salary but we all know its there to cover any future damage Chris causes in one of his dugout meltdowns in Atlanta. 😎

    Good deal for both teams if Sale stays healthy for the Braves in 24. Grissom is MLB ready and had no spot with the Braves at the MLB level with the addition of Jarred Kelenic to play left field and Orlando Arcia now established at ss. If Grissom pans out the Sox will have him cheap and under team control for 6 seasons and maybe, if healthy, Sale can contribute to the Braves win now mode window they are now in. Sale technically only costs the Braves 500K in 2024, Sox sent over 17 mil of Sale's 27.5 owed in this trade and 10 mil is deferred to July 1, 2026. It will be interesting to see where the Sox put Vaughn defensively since that may be his liability. Ron Washington worked tirelessly with Grissom the past 2 seasons on his defense so maybe that will come to fruition for the Sox? Will be interesting to see this one play out!

    I bet they will slot him in at 2b. I believe they want to play Story at SS

    IMO, he's always been over-hyped, under-performing, and for sure waaaaaaaaaaaay over-paid.
    Glad he's gone, a plus for the team.
