Can I get opinions on this new Morgan I picked up I think something looks off to me but I'm unsure

    Polished to death. Its an 82S not a 92S.

    Those patches of hairlines running in the same direction and the mirror finish to the entire obverse is a dead giveaway that it has been polished.

    That's a badly altered coin, and not something that any collector would want. Thing is, that 1882-s Morgans are very plentiful, and can be a beautiful coin to own, and have pride in. Here is a typical MS-64 example. They have slabbed tens of thousands of these...They are not expensive. Get to know what original luster looks like first, before buying any Morgan. Luster is important.

    Please take the advice of the members of this forum. Conduct extensive research before you purchase a coin, especially one that has been cleaned, whizzed, polished and ruined.

    Refrain from buying raw coins unless and until you have put in the time, energy and money to educate yourself on the nuances of any particular coin or series.
