Your favorite classic and modern commemorative

Hard choice as I like the Oregon trial series and Layfayette dollar etc but the pilgrim, dates 1920 and 1921, are high relief and have incredible reverse detail so it is my favorite classic… and then I still love the Buffalo modern commemorative - I’m assuming the new Morgan and peace coins are not commemoratives…
Post your favorites!!

The CT is one of the few classic commems with beautiful depictions on both obverse and reverse:![](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/editor/ld/c9dxd106jseo.png)
The modern commems leave a lot to be desired, but when I found a few like this one from Stefanie's collection, I was very happy to have it:
Commems and Early Type
My all-time favorite, the Connecticut, looks good both mint state (as shared by @CommemDude) and circulated-

I would go with the Oregon Trail and the Baseball HOF set of 3.
The baseball set is an innovative design that captured the joy of playing baseball as a kid.
The Oregon Trail because it is just BEAUTIFUL on both sides!

Favorite classic commemorative, only it’s not my coin. I helped the owner edit the photo about 20 years ago.

I only really like the classic ones, the modern ones are all so flat looking.

1) the Connecticut
2) the Oregon
3) Texas
It all depends what I like for that day, fwiw
I don't have a pic handy but my favorite classic commemorative coin is the $2.5 Panama Pacific Exposition commemorative which shows Miss Liberty riding on the back of a Hippocampus while holding a Caduceus. A lot of symbolism on that very artistic coin.
As far as modern commemorative coins, I like the 2009 (MMIX) Ultra High Relief Saint Gaudens double eagle gold coin. It's the only ultra high relief legal tender coin produced by the United States.

My favorite is the Vermont. A one year commemerative.

Lots of nice examples from the classic commemorative series. My two:

Love theae examples
Mine is not the very best example in the world, but I'm quite partial to the Vermont half both for its design and for my connections to the place. Some others I especially admire include the Pan Pac designs (all of them!), the Oregon, and the Bay Bridge.
Among moderns, I have high regard for the 1986 Statue of Liberty half dollar. This pic is not mine, but I still have the two I bought from the mint when they came out, one in proof and one in unc finish. It's a great design, the more poignant for me since so many of my ancestors arrived by way of Ellis Island.
