Is it worth it to grade an AU Columbian?

I can't decide if I should send this in for quarterly special and get a True View. The reverse is dark but obverse rocks ++++

Nice looking obverse.
The PCGS Price Guide for an MS62 is $70.
An AU graded coin would put you deep in the red, but you would have your very expensive TrueView.
I would only submit this coin if it has some deep rooted meaning, other than the grade and toning.
Good Luck.
Only only if this particular coin is sentimental and you want it holdered. If looking to make some money off it, stranger things have happened, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
To me that coin is little more than bullion.

Send it in
I could not stand the suspense of what it would grade.
This is the kind of coin you’d wait and use it on one of your collector club vouchers.

Goodbye and good luck.
He didn't ask you to price it. He asked if it was worth grading. And adding 35% to your coin cost doesn't make it worth that to anyone. Why don't you buy bullion at melt, add 35% to it and see if you can sell it. You'll either be rich or broke.
No, I also have an slider Columbian and it pays not to get it graded.
It’s a valid point to think about what you’d need to get to recoup your money. I think that’s all he was getting at.
BHNC #248 … 130 and counting.
His calculation is nonsense. If you needed to make 35% on every coin, you'd rarely buy any.
And he's not selling it. He wants to keep it. In that case it only needs to be worth cost + slab fees. He's a buyer not a seller.

It's nice but not worth the grading costs. The reverse holds it back as well. Just enjoy it raw.
These are PL (in surfaces not designation) and UNC and we’re barely worth it

Down elevators in threads above - the low ballers trashing me. They wb laughed off the bourse.
I do not feel it would be worth it, but people slab coins all the time for reasons that I would not.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
The color reminds me too much of the framed coin sets of the 70’s.
Even if it's straight grades you'll have more money in the grading expense than the coin is worth.
I will look closer to confirm not polished or cleaned
No.
It would look great in an Air-tite on your desk.
There is no price swing between the grades this coin might receive, so grading won’t add value there. The coin doesn’t have a high value, so any marginal increase in value won’t cover the cost of grading. I can’t imagine a scenario where you come out ahead by sending this in.
You still pay for those—wasting them on coins not worth being graded is still throwing money away, just money that you spent before, not at the time of submission.
you all have convinced me - a plastic cover will not increase it's worth by $40
If your just looking for nice pics you could try some of the forum members here.
@FlyingAl takes good pics and there are a few others. Much less expensive on your end.

Surely you are jesting.
This piece would be a fine candidate for self slabbing.

That’s along the lines of what I was thinking; put it in a 7070 and if you want to see a blow up of it, use your magnifier, and save your money for something else.
If you send it in, I think PCGS might return it to you alone in a box of 20. They did that to me after I sent in a single coin and came back without a numeric grade.
