How do you know its the same coin, is it your coin?
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
That’s why PCGS coins sell for more money than NGC coins in general.
I have been thinking about sending a couple of mine into NGC, for a re-grade
It's the same coin. From the images it appears that it might have been worked on to get it flatter.

Not my coin , but i did follow the sale .
100% Same Exact coin .
Ah, the ol’ “razzle dazzle”. Nice.

But then I had a late 1700s $10 gold coin grade MS61 at PCGS and bb'd at NGC as "bent".

It's probably too late now for the NGC coin to make its way back to PCGS for another cross.

None of these grades really matters until it has the cacs. That silly little sticker will change the value of a damaged/details coin tenfold. Bean em all I say. At the end of the day all comes down to dollars and sense which seems to have escaped the hobby many years ago. These kids now days don't want coins, it's all about the bean. RGDS!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
It takes some cajones to pay $38k for a Details coin, crack it, and “work” on it….but I guess they figured that there was little downside.
That QE looks like lifeless dreck…. so I’ll just stick with my HE.
Penthouse Suite please.
Well how bout that - floor 38 to PH floor 145 - want elevator that goes to the top, time for a shot of crown Royal to celebrate, take in the view. $145 K obo. Just BIN right?
It's not unusual for a coin to grade two different ways. And I can see an honest debate on whether or not an 1808 QE with this much damage should get a straight grade. And I can see why some people think the grading opinion on a slab matters as much as it does. I just don't see how it can end well for the people who buy and collect stuff like this.

But in this case, while it did get a straight grade, but no bean. And dealing with this kinda $$, you can bet it was definitely tried!
And anyone buying this level of coin ( me included) would definitely be wondering ‘why no sticker.’ That usually signals a hard pass for me!
TPG should buy that coin back.
Both parties can afford to handle that mistake. Bad for the marketplace, that coin is important and will recirculate.
Dealers buy back lemons, doctors have malpractice insurance......
To be fair, I’ve had to submit a coin a couple times to pcgs before finally getting it in the holder I agree with. Same coin came back 3 grades all three different times. Once was environmental damage, once was cleaned, then third time was the straight grade. Seems like a crap shoot sometimes
It looks like an obviously unoriginal problem coin to me in either holder. I’m not impressed with NGC’s grade. Now if you could get it to sticker 😈…
