A Christmas Eve NEWP from Great Collections!

I'm really excited to get this one in hand. Was hoping that the bids would remain low tonight and I was fortunate to get it at about 2/3 of my max bid! The 12D is typically not well struck and often the luster is subdued. It is often considered a sleeper in the series too! This one appears to have a much better strike (stars look complete on the obverse and the corn on the reverse appears mostly struck up) than the average coin and the wood-grain toning set it aside from the rest. Not to mention its in an old fatty holder! Ill also be looking forward to comparing the traditional GC images to the new, "Great Photo" images. Maybe Ian will even put a calendar in with it!
Hope everyone has a merry Christmas day tomorrow!

For a dull series that is a wonderful example
An odd time for auction. Looks like it turned out in your favor. Congrats!

Yes, still in progress. I have all the keys.
That's a nice one. The corn looks like corn, and not a sausage!
I got this on Christmas Eve.

After not leaving the US for about 50 years, I am now in Turkey, visiting with a colleague and her family. As we drove from my friend's father's village to Istanbul (a 16 hour drive West across Turkey with snow and ice for a lot of the drive
) I bid on a coin on GreatCollections. And at 4 AM on Christmas day, Turkish time, I won it. While I think it is definitely not as nice as @erwindoc and @JimTyler extremely nice coins and it won't have True View photos until I send it off to be photographed in the slab, nonetheless it has been slabbed for over 20 years and, much more important to me, it will carry memories of this Christmas and my time in Turkey.
It's not a coin but I got a newp as well.
