Unidentified Coin

Can anyone identify and explain this coin? We found it in my late father's possessions along with a newspaper clipping about the Space Shuttle Atlantis being retired. Dad worked for Lockheed Missile and Space for his entire career, and being old school he was tight lipped about all the missions he worked on. Thank you

It's not a coin. It's a medal
Do a Google image search on the obverse.
Quick search on Ebay yielded no results found.
First quick glance of the obverse thought it was a button.
Looks like a military challenge coin.

The medallion is probably an award for participants in a Lockheed program.
