It has been determined with the confirmation of ANACS that this slab is a genuine product.

That looks like an NGC style holder with a self made insert label.

Clue one: It's not sealed - notice the notch top & bottom.

Anyone make out what these initials at the bottom are, I'm guessing the company that makes the plastic slab.

Someone could have looked up actual certification info and created a fake slab & label to go with a questionable coin...

Well, I suppose if they're going to all this bother to slab a fairly common Morgan Dollar, they'd likely go all in and create a link to a fake website that looks like ANACS to support the grift...

It would make more sense if they gave it an MS65 grade instead of an AU/low MS (accurate) grade.

Hmmm. Seller has 4800+ items and 100% feedback.
The coin is priced to sell.

Maybe the coin was previously cracked out of said ANACS slab and the person just put it in a generic slab and printed a label with all of the info from the cracked slab.

My ANACS rep stated this "was a promotional item / not a service available to retail customers".

Now I feel terrible accusing the selling of offering a counterfeit slab.
Should I alter this thread title?

Probably should, but I don't think you need to feel guilty; it sure does look like a counterfeit attempt.

    I agree.
I jumped the gun originally and that isn't fair to the seller.
I'd love to get additional information regarding this slab as it truly is the first I've seen or heard of it.

Did you, by chance, ask about those letters on the slab?

You fixed the title, so that is good.
And now it might sell for a lot more given the new info about it being a rare promotional slab.

With no bar code and labels that are falling off? What are they promoting? It's a 6-digit number as well, suggesting it is rather old.

This one may go for higher than expected just because it’s a rare slab. Slab collectors are probably really interested.
