I check the TrueView box on my submission form.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Take a bunch of photos and pick the best one.
I send my coins to people like Mark Goodman or @FlyingAl , great photos every time no fuss no ugly background.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I have my buddy Vern shoot the photo!
Sometimes I catch a nice one with the phone…

Not sure if everyone is being tongue in cheek (if so, bravo, sorry for being dense) but I have to think OP is asking about Phil Arnold's new photo program at GC
Skill.
I follow the techniques described in Mark Goodman's book Numismatic Photography.
If you're asking about something Great Collections is offering, I have absolutely no idea.
GreatCollections will decide which coins get that service.
I’d assume they’ll try and do it with as many coins as possible.
Coin Photographer.
Bingo
What lighting are you using?
20+ years and hundreds of thousands of photos under my belt, I think I have the hang of it
I take the pictures myself.
Sometimes I attach a telescope to my cameras and take a picture of a faraway object.

I set up my lights and camera correctly, then push the button. Works every time. As for how to get a GreatPhoto™, Ian would be the one to ask.

Thanks @slider23
@JimTyler we're adding more and more GreatPhotos to our auction listings - I think 400-500 uploaded last night. At the moment, we're prioritizing special coins and also coins of all values that have toning/color where the slab shot doesn't show the coin with the true appearance.
I love the responses to this thread showing photo set-ups and lights etc.

My phone takes decent pictures.
Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard
While a great many on this forum have photographed coins for me and all great photos, my favorite is Joe(crazyhounddog). Cannot even guess how many he has photo'd for me. Love them all.

Why even bother with the standard photo ? You have to take a slab shot to crop the photo for the Great Photo use that slab shot instead. I have bought many coins for less than they should have gone for from the standard photos as a buyer no complaints as a seller I want the better quality photo.
Practice.

Volume and consistency. Standard slab shots can be done far more quickly than a high quality shot that needs more thought and effort put into it. Also, keeping the quick slab shot gives a second look at a GreatlyPhotoed coin that's consistent with all of the other coins being sold such that it can be compared with the others (or others compared with it).

@ianrussell Do you envision allowing collectors to send in coins for Great Photos at some point (without actually consigning the coins)? I imagine there are many folks who would pay good money for Phil’s excellent photography, myself included.
Not until every coin in the auction gets Great Photo (IMO). I find myself gravitating towards the GP lots as if they must be considered by the powers to be superior in some respect to deserve the GP. All need GP to avoid a bias to those that have one and to eliminate the question of submitting to auction whether or not my coin will get the extra bump from a GP. I have some stunners I want to auction and would benefit from a GP but am now reluctant (after viewing GP) to auction convinced I will not realize best outcome if my coins are overlooked.
The slab shots are still essential imho, and they will not be going away.
Definitely appreciate the feedback, as does Phil.

Maybe send an email or PM to Ian? I would think something could be arranged and you might have more luck than blasting him here publicly while he’s still trying to figure out how to deal with all the volume. It takes time to implement a new product or service across a company.
Ian contacted me understood and addressed my concerns. Good advice to you from the Fugio cent.
Use a Great Camera.

When you take your grievance public, the public will weigh in. If you don’t want comments from others, don’t start a thread!
It’s Christmas this should end.
I don't.
