Ebay fraud "Branch Mint Proof" 1880-S Morgan Lunacy
If this violates forum rules, I apologize. But this isn't libel, it's truth. This just pisses me off. A highly rated Ebay seller with recorded sales of $10k+ rare coins is selling a mislabeled ANACS PF-63 PL 1880 S Morgan as a "branch mint proof". And has the audacity to claim ANACS confirmed it's a proof when questioned. First proof I've seen with bag wear, bag marks, no wire rim, and a mediocre strike. Oh, and a PL DESIGNATION. What are they suggesting, that a highly unusual branch mint proof was struck once on a normal planchet, and immediately thrown into a US Mint canvas? Icing on the cake, they are, in their infinite grace and charity, only asking 7k for this one of one numismatic rarity. They are deliberately misleading buyers and getting away with it.

Did you read his description? It’s not fraudulent if he says it may or may not be.
This is not a wishy washy case where it could go either way. It's plain as day: even a novice could tell this isn't a proof. This isn't some guy in Tulsa, OK who found it in his grandad's change jar, this is a working professional. Even the suggestion that it is anything other than an obvious ANACS goof is deception, and deception it is, to the tune of $6,995.00. Why are you even making excuses for this guy?
Why are you so mad that someone disagrees with your assessment?
Sorry if I come off angry. I am not really upset at you, I just found it strange that your first reaction is to defend what appears, to my eyes at least, to be a cruel deception. I see corruption and am rightfully disturbed.
You already stated any novice could tell. If anyone else actually read the description they too could see that whether or not it is in fact what he claims could or could not be true within the description itself.
alright. You are entitled to your opinion. We are too far apart on this one.
You will get further here with without an attitude, just saying. Have a good day 🙂
It has been removed.
I took the time to call ANACS. I was intrigued by this coin. I spoke to someone and they took the time to research this coin while I was on the phone. I was told it was a mistake. They even spoke to another person at the company. Maybe a grader, I don't know for sure. I sent this seller a message telling them what my research turned up. I told him he could also call ANACS and discuss it with them.
I really don't see some newbie jumping on a $7000 coin. Good way to get sued in my opinion.
Regardless of all other facts I can tell you 100% for sure that the seller knows it was a label mistake by the TPG.

I didn't notice any “attitude” from the OP at all, especially in the statement you quoted. I noticed that he got a little worked up because of someone needlessly playing devils advocate, as per usual.
“Protect our own, we must 🫡”….Give me a break. Anyone with an ask price of 7k on an 80-s Morgan with an erroneous ANACS label knows exactly what they’re doing. I don't give a hoot what type of disclaimer is in the description, and I can promise you they didn’t pay branch mint proof money for it, either.

Yep, it was reported and removed; saved the reverse image with the cert number:
I guess time will tell if the Op's statement "They are deliberately misleading buyers and getting away with it." is proven true...
Dear 1951TP excellent work uncovering another ebay seller who doesn't believe in how we here on the forum believe business should be conducted. You did a good deed and could have saved an unsuspecting buyer a great deal of money. I was going to post this last night but fell asleep.
Thank you, much appreciated
