Does anyone else here like collecting things that come in yearly sequence (besides baseball cards)?

One of the main things i do with my collection is try to get as big a sequence of years as I can...for example I have a sequence/run of Topps sets from 1974-2013 (except the commons missing below; yes I know this sequence is long overdue for an update but...) Donruss 1981-98, Fleer 1981-95, Topps football 1980-2000, and so on. See I'm very must the nostalgic/sentimental type plus my UK degrees are in history and political science so, you do the math.

But it isn't limited to just trading cards, no sir! Last year I got into coins and of course it more than anything is all about getting all the years/mintmarks you can! I hope eventually to get all the silver eagles (and maple leaves!) and as big a sequence of mint/proof sets that I can! And just recently I got into stamps and so far have a complete set (both regular and commemorative) of the 70s/80s (I grew up in the 80s and early 90s and my late wife was the "disco queen" back in the 70s so naturally that's like a "sweet spot" in terms of nostalgia sorts of time period if that makes sense). While the 40s/50s/60s are surprisingly affordable, it'll take quite a while to do the 90s...mainly because they did a lot more stamps in that time period!

And on top of THAT I have books that I like to try to get all the years I can, such as World Book yearbooks (I got 1931-2013), Britannica Book of the Year (1961-98), Cats Pause yearbooks (1985-2020), media guides (1973-2010) and even World Almanacs (1985-97). And video game cartridge collecting isn't really set up for timeline/year sort of collection but I guess you COULD sort them by year if you wanted to and perhaps do a subset of a particular time period, such as all the NES's "Black Box Thirty", or all the NES games released in its last year, 1994.

Yeah I'm obviously spreading myself way too thin...I mean if I had stayed laser focused on just cards I very easily would have 1970-72 Topps sets in PSA 7 by now and maybe even a few cards from the 60s! Or if I had stayed laser focused on just video games I likely could have over 500-600 each of NES/SNES and maybe GEN also. shrugs But I can help how I'm wired ya know? I tend to go in cycles where I really focus on one of the above hobbies and hardly even touch the others (heck I've sometimes gone a month or two without touching any of my video games).

And just to be clear I spent all this century working on these so even though I hardly ever had much money to splurge (and I definitely still don't) I made sure to make every penny count and it gradually does add up over time, right? There is still so so so much I want to do/accomplish and so very little money to do it with...but hopefully at least have time on my side (I'm only 43; I can't believe for once I'm actually saying "only").

Aside from tax documents and Calendars, which I get yearly but I toss the old one, I attempted to collect license plates years ago and gave up.

I have a friend who collects unused Snap-On 3/8" wratchet wrenches.

You know that would be a neat collectable too, vintage calendars I mean! I mean if you think about, hardly anyone would've even thought to save them, yet most are still pretty affordable. Might be neat to get a complete sequence of all the years there was a Peanuts calendar (oh I forgot to mention I got all 25 of the Complete Peanuts books and all ten of the Peanuts Every Sunday books...which in both cases I got during the time they came out (for once; usually I've collected stuff many years, even decades after they were made).

Just like how I got Christmas Eve presents at my grandma/grandpa's! Then of course whatever Santa (well his helpers) left on Christmas morning! My most memorable by far was when I FINALLY (1994) got a Super Nintendo! And in 2008 my lovely wife got me a Nintendo Wii! Which I think was still fairly hard to come by at that time...

I don't suppose all those ex's live in Texas? Though at the time (I was only 7-8 years old at the time) I liked to sing it All My Exes Live in Alaska (don't ask)! Seriously how in the world do you go through that many ex-wifes? Then again Elizabeth Taylor had 7-8 ex-hubbys...

Funniest one is EX #3, I never married her, but after we split she Filed for Divorce under Colorado Common Law, and won and got all the furniture we bought together! And I got Divorce #3!

That doesn't sound funny at all! And how the heck can you divorce someone without being married first? It's like Rudy said in that movie, you can't be kicked off the team without being on the team first! In my case I have polar opposite "woman problem"...yet another lonely Blue Christmas :,(

You should get out more. Sounds like you live in your past. Go out one night, get drunk, hook up with a stranger, have some chicken fried steak and eggs at 3am. Wake up in the morning with a big smile on your face and wonder did all that really happen or was it just a dream? I mean none of that with any disrespect at all. You just always sound so sad and lonely. Go live your life my man, your kitty will be fine for a few hours without you.

How much did it sale for is one of the funniest and most ignorant things I've ever heard.

First off I don't drink adult beverages (they taste nasty and at least a couple of my family members (I'm adopted but still) had their lives really screwed up because of it so it's probably for the best. I most definitely don't do "one night stands". I found my late wife online and believe me, I'm doing my very best to find someone special but you guys know how it is, it's really hard...but that just makes it all the more special when I do eventually find my Princess Charming...I don't care if it takes me till I'm 50 or 60...if she's the truly live happily ever after sort, I'll gladly wait that long if need be!

And yes I do have to deal with depression and other mental/emotional health issues (I've been on disability for that and other reasons since 2011...long story) so yeah, it's no fun to be "so sad and lonely" and this kind of thing is something none of you should wish upon even your worst enemy. :(
