it started 33 minutes ago they are on lot 16.....slowest I have ever seen.
Probably because of the interpreter for each lot.

Thanks now I am. Some serious coins in this auction. 26 lots sold so far with over 2.1$ million dollars total. 150 lots total in this auction.
NFL: Buffalo Bills & Green Bay Packers
Was it your friend that had some expensive coins from China they had set aside? Did he ever sell them?

That voice in the back (auctioneer talks then the Chinese interpreter talks right after) I just can't so I will view it on mute. Put on some Christmas music on youtube and watch the bids go up.

He has the Pavillion dollar in this auction
Paid $5 back in the 1950’s

Many interesting coins I must say. Chinese coins are for deep pocket collectors that is for sure.

I should consign my collection
The same pavillion sold in SB October 2022 Hong Kong Auction for 78K (not the exact same coin but same au details tooled). I remember I bought one nice toned NGC UNC AT Details for about 7K in 2010-2011 and I sold it right away.😡
This coin sold for 130k USD as au details but the buyer changed it to au55 and sold for 3450000 RMB about 481275 USD today’s exchange rate.
Wonder why the Graffiti on the coin end up not counted as Details on the re-submission of the coin. Good for him.
He sold the above coin!
The other pavilion dollar is a different type.

This is the one I like with all the original documents. Sold for 150k plus fee. Lots of history with it.
I watched about an hour of the live auction and was surprised by the time spent per lot.
My interest was the ancient coins included in the sale. In my opinion the prices were strong for items I see selling for notably less in US hosted auctions.

This is why they sell coins in Hong Kong even though it costs plenty to do it.
Chinese (or anyone really) will pay more if the goods are right there. No risky shipping, no pesky Customs officials taking names, and no waiting to receive them.
The Chinese in particular want to invest in tangible goods and divest of easily-manipulated paper currency.
pruebas, thank you for your insights on the thought process of the on site bidders at the Hong Kong sale. Now what I witnessed makes perfect sense.
