Topps Bob Ross X

Is anyone collecting or taking note of the 100 card Topps Bob Ross X cards?

I have seen the Happy Little Box (13 cards) increase from $50 (initial pre-order ebay sales) to about $150 (on average currently).

While there are some for $150 Buy It Now, some auctions appear to be a bit higher which seems odd.

The big box (8 packs of 12 cards) has seen around a $50 increase from the $285 (initial ebay pre-order) to around $335.

I wonder if the Happy Little Boxes are in demand from Christmas and people are willing to pay nearly $200 rather than $335 for almost 8x the cards?

I haven't seen many rips so maybe the small boxes have better odds.

All I know is that when released I was waiting to but some, but work thing made me about 20m or so late and all gone. They went extremely fast. :(

Similar experience. Wanted to get a box for my nephew who loves to paint and is a Bob Ross fan as I know he would have loved it - gone in the blink of an eye.

  • Is this the only print run for this set? I wonder what the production numbers are.

It should be easy to build the base set because the size is small. I imagined there would be a little more discussion on this set because of the span of players in the checklist, the artwork/artist, and the interesting parallels.

I was glad to see Frank Thomas, Bo Jackson, and Ted Williams make the cut. It would be difficult to choose the player list.

I opened four collectors boxes and was able to complete one base set and a second base set two cards short.

I thought the idea of the card set linked to Ross was dumb. Still do. He literally has nothing to do with baseball.

I knew Ross had died, but assumed his family owned the rights to his name/likeness. Someone made a comment somewhere to the contrary, then I found the netflix documentary on Ross and ended up watching it. Interesting story. His rise to fame is crazy and his business partners sure took advantage of his family.

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.
  • I opted to post the 3 Happy Little Boxes that I paid $169 shipped total. I got $280 per box. Sold all 3 to the same person. Seems auctions are ended for less but somebody pulled the trigger overnight. I had them listed for 3 days.

The profit is more than I paid for the larger box with 8 packs so I think I will rip the bigger box.
