For sale is the complete Franklin Mint History of Mankind, a set of (100) 24k gold electroplated Sterling silver medals issued from 1974 to 1982. Total silver weight is 192.7 Troy oz.

Contents:
(2) Leather albums, each holding 50 capsules containing the medals (5 pages, 10 per page)
(100) Proof 1000 grain 24k gold electroplated Sterling silver medals, each hallmarked on the edge and in a capsule, depicting a different historic event in the history of mankind, selected by the FM team of experts
(1) book explaining the detailed history behind each event chosen for a medal
(1) small album with the COA and a one-page description of each medal
(1) folio with the marketing description of the set (a prospectus)

This set is absolutely pristine! It was very carefully preserved by its original owner and by me since obtaining it.
As these albums are quite heavy and bulky, they are often damaged with broken bindings, etc. or are missing parts of the set.
Not this set.

The title page of each binder is personalized to a lawyer. As can be expected, most of these sets were originally purchased by doctors and lawyers back in the day.

Let me hasten to add that not many complete sets like this are available. There was tremendous inflation between 1974 and 1982, so many sets were not completed or subsequently melted. 8+ years is a long time to pay the monthly cost to obtain each medal and not lose interest and not run out of money.

Link to information about the set..

The silver content of each medal is as follows:
1000 grains / 480 grains per Troy oz. x 0.925 fine silver = 1.927 ASW each
The gold electroplate value is negligible except to preserve the finish of the medals.

95% of the medals are completely untoned and pristine.
A very few have small spots of toning, not corrosion. This must have been where the electroplate was weak. I have imaged the worst one. A few others are have some toning spots, but much less.

I can provide more or better photos to serious buyers upon request.

I am asking $7200 (net to me) shipped to the USA insured. The set is VERY heavy as you can well imagine.

There are a few partial sets and a banged up set on eBay to compare to. Most of the ebay sellers have the details wrong. The medals are 1000 grains in weight, not 2 Troy oz. The Franklin Mint did not make their products in even Troy oz. weights, but in even grain weights.

Makes a great Holiday gift!
