So....after my $300 tuition in my attempt to get a raw 1843 Mature Head certified I have learned my lesson. This coin is graded by NGC so I would have to cross it to our hosts. What is the NGC grade and what is the minimum it would cross at PCGS? I am shopping for a nice Holiday gift for myself and the dealer is willing to take some of my Rattler Commemoratives in trade towards the purchase. Thanks for your help!

58, and should cross as such.
I'd keep the Rattler Commems.
Edited to say: Nice Large Cents can be found anytime. No so much with Rattler coins.
I’d keep looking
Holders aside, this large cent has a PCGS population of 45 coins in all grades from AU 50 through MS66.
Even the vaunted Hawaiian and Grant w/star commems have mint state populations in the thousands.
+1
The only detractions I see are the planchet fleks in the denticles near star 2 and the troubling spot in the ribbons bow on the reverse.
As far as details, I'd say 58. I think there's rub over Ms. Liberty's ear...
Let us know how it turns out...

I think some nice Large Cents can be found at multiples of Greysheet pricing... I was looking for a nice 1839 N11 for almost a year before finally finding one with... 1. Nice surfaces, 2. Nice color, 3. Nicely struck, and 4. XF to AU details. (Edited to add... AND nicely priced!) Don't even get me started on Classic Head LC's...

I'm with @Walkerguy21D AU-58, and I might add that to me it's very attractive with nice color.
What was NGC looking at? Because it's a Newman coin it's 64+? I would pay 62 $$ for the coin...dealer wants 63. I think it would cross as a 62. Your opinions please.

What’s your opinion on this one?
I thought it was a lock 63, PCGS graded it a 58.
IMO, it has no high point rub and better luster than that 1843. I would be very surprised to see PCGS grade it MS-anything, regardless of the provenance….
@Walkerguy21D I agree your 1852 looks a lot nicer than the 1843. NGC goes way overboard when grading Large Cents in general and when they get a substantial collection they add 1 or in this case 5 points to the coin. Heritage pointed out in its description of the coin that in their opinion it was EAC55. NGC did the same thing with the Jules Reiver cents.
I am passing on this coin.
NGC did the same thing with the Jules Reiver cents.
Yes, they sure did!
That is a tough, major Redbook variety to find in higher grades (as I alluded to with the PCGS pop data, and I realize you know that as well), but I wouldn't substantially overspend for one, either. Even at the dealer's "63 money", I'm guessing it's still pretty pricy, and no way would I roll the dice to see if that crosses at 63 at PCGS. Sounds like you concur. My guess is that will probably be in that 64+ holder for a LONG time.
My lowly example, a good ‘nuff place holder for <$60. The reverse stain is less visible in hand, but may still preclude a straight grade:
