I believe this is an authentic series 1917 $1, can you confirm?

I’m a coin guy but recently came across this. I believe it’s real but wanted to have some other eyes on it. If real, what value would you place on it? It does have some fold lines. Thanks for any help!

    Totally looks a real note in original condition to me.

    Pretty common type with Elliott/Burke sigs, fine to very fine-ish condition, some light staining.

    I’d guess $50 to $75 retail.

    30+ years coin shop experience (ret.) Coins, bullion, currency, scrap & interesting folks. Loved every minute!

    It appears genuine, with security threads and sharp details.
    I’m wondering why someone hasn’t bothered to unfold the corners.

    You know, if I owned that note I’d probably consider soaking it in some lukewarm water with one drop of Dawn diluted in…just sayin

    It’s not like it’s a super expensive example and I’d bet it would improve its eye appeal twofold.
