I know this is not technically a US coin, but it’s similar in many ways and these compliment the US $10 Indian gold in my opinion.
Posting this in the US category may inspire some dabbling in world gold by others and a lot of eyes are in this category…
What’s cool is that they are the exact same purity and weight so I guess for a few years the Canadian dollar was on par with the US dollar.
It’s a small set, and very fun to attempt as they only made these in 1912, 1913, and 1914.
They only made a $5 and $10 gold piece so it’s a six coin set.
I got all three of the fives about two years ago, and this past July, I got the $10 from 1914.
Just a few days ago, I finally got this one. I only lack one coin now, the 1912 $10

I remember when those got released, almost squeezed the trigger my self. @TomB had a small lot of them he marketed. Cool coin

Cool set. I tried for a couple early on and didn’t win the auction. Forgot about them until your post. Congratulations.

The main motivation was getting the three 5’s about two years ago, I got them for the melt price of the coin plus $25 each!
I believe they melt for more than that by now.
Since those match grade and holder, I decided that all three of the 10’s need to be in the exact same holder and grade as well, but these I’m doing with the PCGS hoard…

I love these issues and love your group of coins.
@Crypto is correct in that I had around 150-pieces of these very early on in the process and was able to find nearly all of them good homes relatively quickly. I saved around a dozen or so for myself and am glad that I did. My set is complete (1912-1914, both $5 and $10) and, if I recall correctly, they are all MS63-MS64. The 1912 issues are a beast and your purchase of the group of $5 coins was an absolute steal!
At this time Canada was using a gold standard identical to the US (these coins) as well as a gold standard identical to Great Britain (sovereign and half-sovereign). Additionally, a short time before that Newfoundland, which was not part of the Canadian Confederation at this date, issued gold coinage that circulated within Canada and had three denominations written on the reverse "Two Hundred Cents", "One Hundred Pence" and "2 Dollars". The NFLD pieces are extremely low mintage, but available save for one.

@TomB
The two dollar piece is pretty cool, I have seen a few, when the right example comes along I will likely grab one!
And I agree, these $5 and $10 pieces are just lovely! 👍
