Are you ready for Tom Brady next season?

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

Tom Brady will be starting his broadcasting career next season with FOX, he was a genius at processing information on the field, I can't wait to hear his analysis and pick his brain.

It will be interesting to see how he does, I'm sure he will be like Romo dissecting plays I just hope he isn't too much, like Romo

The most brilliant quarterback mind ever, breaking down each play, can't wait. I'm going to put my glasses on, sit down in front of the TV, and learn from the master.

One thing we know for sure, Brady will be well prepared before each game.

He may get tired of it after a while and quit. Who knows, he doesn't even know. But for the time that he's there, I'm sure Tom will give it all he's got. 😊

Hmm, a few weeks back the 49ers spanked the Cowboys 42-10, wish Brady would have been calling that game, would love to hear him pick Prescott apart.

  • I don't think he will last long. His projected personality seems really fake.

None of this matters because by the start of next season we'll see 47yr old Tom Brady lining up behind center for the New England Patriots. 😎

Yea, ya never can tell how a player's personality is going to translate into a broadcaster. Lot different doing a half hour interview than broadcasting a game. I'm guessing Fox likely if not definitely tested him in private on a few previous games to see how he did.

Also I have no idea how his attempt to buy a minority ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders, will play into this? I'm not sure if that has ever happened before, that a NFL owner also became a NFL broadcaster. Perhaps something is obvious and it slipped my mind.

I know the ownership thing has been held up. Would it get held up further or even be cancelled if Brady wished to remain a broadcaster? If it's a sticking point, I would guess that Brady will choose ownership, and forget about the broadcasting.

Another guess, Brady could become the Raiders owner and then do his own podcast. Who would stop that? I doubt if the NFL owners would object to that.

It's going to be great just to have Tom Brady back in our lives again, football seems weird without him. Now, if Travis Kelce will hurry up and get a tattoo of Taylor Swift on his arm, my life will be complete.

What if Btady stole Taylor away from Kelce?

    Now that would be funny.

what do you mean if? It is a matter of when.

Tommy stole my heart over 20 years ago. Taylor doesnt have a chance!

Looks like Brady will start his broadcasting career calling the Cowboys-Browns game on week one.

I guess the color inventing business has died down so he needs something to do. But damn when he invented Brady Blue he was on top of the world. 🔵

I wonder how critical he will be of players. He strikes me as a guy who avoids saying anything negative, an attribute as a player but not what you look for in a commentator.

Honestly it’s going to suck with him as color commentator and probably not even his fault.
For a long time the problem with sports announcers is they started talking about themselves more than they talked about the actual game. With Craig’s Tommy boy it’s going to ratchet up several notches. Play by play guy constantly asking questions about sb wins 1-7 etc. it’s basically going to be too much about Brady instead of the game.

Denny Matthews and Fred White are the best broadcasters in the history of baseball. Denny has done royals games since their founding, is now in the baseball HOF and I don’t know a thing about him. I can even remember my mom about 42 years ago making the comment ‘those announcers are so good, all they do is talk about the game’.
Those were the days, never to return.

90% of the time when I'm watching New School NFL; I'll have the TV muted...

when I'm watching Old School NFL...Um if you listen really good you just might hear my TV going...

now when I'm watching college football...the TV can get a little loud... :)

he better be good because they busted up the best duo for him

truthfully it reached a point where i was getting sick of seeing and hearing about Brady, then this happened and that bitter taste was exacerbated

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I think some are underestimating Brady's ability to do color, in the same way they underestimated his ability to be a successful NFL quarterback coming out of Michigan. Never underestimate a proven killer such as this.

First and foremost, Brady loves the game of football, and knows the game inside and out. That's over half the battle right there. Would I want him for play by play? Perhaps not. But for color, he may be about as perfect as possible.

The recent comedy roast proved that Brady can take the shots and have a good time doing it. So he can dish it out as well. Recall that Brady used to scream his lungs out at his own players when they weren't doing their job properly. He will speak his mind in the broadcast booth, and if a player screws up in some way, Beady won't hesitate to call him out on it.

Brady isn't trying to be a rocket scientist or brain surgeon here. It's football color commentary, and I think Brady will be both informative and entertaining.

I sure hope it doesn't turn out to be the play by play guy constantly talking about the SB's. I truly have no idea how well Tommy will do at this gig. I do know that he is as knowledgable about the QB position as anyone alive and knows the game inside and out. how that will translate to the television screen, I have no idea. I sure hope he does better than Drew Brees did.

The real issue is that Brady is in the process of becoming a minority owner of the Raiders and owners are starting to express concerns about the access to other teams and practices he gets as a broadcaster

As far as a broadcaster I dont have high hopes. Hes too calculated about what he does and says in public to be entertaining. Its like Wayne on the NHL broadcasts where you need someone like a Paul Bissonnette there too to keep it entertaining. They can both talk intelligently about the game but I would much rather listen to Greg Olsen than Brady if hes going to keep the same reserved persona
