Sentimental grading of a coin I call "Smoke on The Water"

In 1967 or 1968 I was a YN who collected from pocket change. I found a 1967 Lincoln Cent (which I thought was maybe an AU) that had booming obverse luster, a deep purple color on the obverse and a reverse that was both purple and black (the Lincoln Memorial is black).

It was eye appealing enough for me that I placed it into a Whitman Album. Over the ensuing years as a YN, a 25 year gap being away from the hobby and a subsequent 25 year period as an adult collector this 1967 cent remained in my collection.

In October I submitted it for grading to our host (for sentimental reasons). It graded MS63BN (much to my surprise).

The Trueview photo of the coin is attached. Unfortunately the photo does not come close to showing how the coin looks in hand. In hand the purple color on the obverse and parts of the reverse are darker, with the obverse luster booming. The Lincoln Memorial on the reverse is a darker black (except for the high points of the building),

Since this cent is a deep purple color; and since as a YN I enjoyed listening to the rock band "Deep Purple" I decided to name this cent "Smoke On The Water" as a tribute to both the band and the song (what a great intro that song has).

To make a bookend set of coins I need to find another 1967 Lincoln cent that has an appearance which would bring to my mind the phrase ("Fire In The Sky") that completes the opening lyric of the song (.... Smoke On The Water,......... and Fire In The Sky!!!!!..........).

So 55 to 56 years after I found this cent and placed it into my collection this post gvies it a little hobby publicity.

Do any of you have any similar coin or coins that you had graded for purely sentimental reasons? If so, tell us about it/them.

I have two that will be graded once I get around to getting a PCGS membership, the two cent piece below was found by my great-great grandfather in the flowerbed, go figure.

I also have a slider 1922 peace dollar that my grandmother was tipped with at 7/11 in the early 2000’s. I will try to get better pictures later, it is a lot cleaner in hand.

Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard
