when sending for grading? Are they likely to get hairlines in the flips?
The capsules are a PAIN to open,,,,,,,, can't believe PCGS wants to remove thousands of them from Capsules.

I would not remove them from the mint capsules.

Proof coin surfaces are so delicate I'd never risk taking them out of their capsules and slipping into a flip.

Yes, I know and I was very leary when I submitted my regular Morgan & Peace Proof Dollars in flips but 9 of 12 graded PR70 DCAM. I was just wondering about all the time PCGS will spend opening them and if your submission will be delayed if they have to open them. Maybe put aside until time to open the capsules?

  • A. I doubt that being in the capsule would delay the grading, I’m certain they remove thousands, and are very skilled and fast at doing so.
    B. One would think that preserving grade potential, i.e. leaving in the protective capsule, would take priority over any assumed delay the removal may incur.

    Blowtorch.

    Melt the capsule.
    Tone the coin.

    Profit.
