Jayson Tatum has started the season off on fire...

in just about all facets of the game. His cards sell ok, above average, but have never really taken off. Is this the year that it happens? Doncic, Jokic, Curry, Embiid, Tatum - Top 5 right now?

Work hard and you will succeed!!

    Tatum could win MVP.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander would be a great long shot MVP bet. He is the best player most mainstream people haven't really heard of. Last year he was First Team All NBA.

Why would his cards "take off" now. He's been a star on a popular team since his rookie year.
Unfortunately, as we know in this hobby, there is more to the $ of cards than playing well......

He is only 25 years old. His cards could take off if he wins a couple of NBA championships and MVP awards in the next 5 years.

Embiid is a dominant player but his body will probably fail him.

He's definitely having a phenomenal start to his season and his on/off numbers have been on an MVP type level.

For those that don't know what the on/off differential stat is,its a teams points scored per 100 possessions minus team points allowed per 100 possessions. Basically, its how many more points your team scores (per 100 possessions) when you're on the court and its a huge factor into why Jokic recently won b2b2 MVPs.

Here are the five previous MVP winners on/off differential stats for those seasons.
    2018-19 Giannis +8.7pts
    2019-20 Giannis +13.6pts
    2020-21 Jokic +6.7pts
    2021-22 Jokic +19.5pts
    2022-23 Embiid +10.9pts (runner-up Jokic had +24.8pts)

    Then so far in 2023-24
    Tatum +27.6pts
    Jokic +28.2pts
    Embiid -14.1pts
    Giannis +13.7pts

Its likely going to come down to Joker/Tatum for MVP and I'd guess that Tatum's cards see a slight bump for MVP but likely a decent jump if Boston wins the championship.

It's not that outrageous. The Celtics have either been to the Finals or one game away for the last 2 seasons. In those two seasons Tatum was First Team All NBA and finished sixth and fourth in the MVP voting. He is getting closer.
