I have this 1942 penny that doesn't seem to be copper. Could it be a rare experimental metal penny?
it was found with a bunch of copper wheat back pennies.
Any thoughts? Ide love some input.

Howdy and welcome.
My first guess would be it had been plated and perhaps used in a keyring or jewelry. A rather simple test would be to weigh the coin on a reliable scale.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
Plated coin once used for cheap jewelry. Note the attachment point on the reverse. Value is one cent.
