Error?

My dad's good friend recently passed away, and his wife, knowing I collect coins, asked if I'd like to have some of them. Eventually, I came back with some common BU Morgans with some attractive toning in an album, a whole bunch of common wheat cents, Buffalo nickels, I.H. cents, seated and barber coinage, the whole spectrum, from 1829 to 2011.

One piece that struck me, though, was a BU 1968 S Memorial cent in a flip labeled "with doubling". Upon further analysis of the coin, I realized that there was indeed some kind of RPM or doubling on the date, but I can't find anything about it in my books or online. Does anyone have an idea of what this is exactly, and what its worth?
Thanks for the help!
Cheers,
Alex

Edit: Just some deceiving machine doubling haha

  • Gotcha, thanks.

Upon reading, you're right, I forgot to factor in machine doubling as a possibility haha.

It is pretty dramatic MD, though. I'd keep it for reference purposes if it were mine.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the San Francisco cents have extreme MD, especially on the ‘69. I have one that I kept as an example in a Air-Tite.

Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard
