QA✔️, EEPS, CAC, CMQ… what am I missing here?

renomedphysrenomedphys Posts: 3,686 ✭✭✭✭✭

At least I’m sure I have the chronology right. Also… I have several “dual-stickered” coins. Anyone seen more? At what point are we putting the sticker before the coin?

To think: I used to peel CAC stickers off slabs. Kind of an “OK, that’s an opinion, now get that junk off there” reflex.

And as an aside, do you leave auction stickers on coin slabs as well?

The chronology is not right there... Eagle Eye is was older than CAC, and QA Check came after CAC.

I would swear I saw QA✔️ stickers before CAC, but EEPS is likely older still.

No 3 sticker coins out there? 4?

Auction stickers come off the holder for my collection.

IF QA✔️is Collectibles Quality Assurance, they started in JAN-2015. Reference

CAC stickering began in NOV-2007. Reference

    Edited to add:
    @airplanenut has the order correct.

    EEPS - 1995
    CAC - 2007
    WINGS - 2008
    QA✔️ - 2015

Have no stickered coins but have some CACG. I like to buy right, pick out my own nice slabbed coins. Know how to grade and look at coins.

Why not buy then raw then? You like slabs (opinions) but not stickers (opinions).

Wings! Thats right, seen those too. That’s 5 possible stickers!

We need a contest with a prize of some sort. I have a 1968 PCGS PR68RB (no stickers, but a nice coin) for the first actual photo of a coin with all five.

Maybe that’s too much to ask 🤷🏻‍♂️

There aren't any coins that can get all 5.

Theoretically...Post-Colonial copper? If it bridged the gap between being struck in England but specifically for circulation in the colonies? And if CAC had seen it before discontinuing colonial pieces?

More than 1 sticker takes away from the look of the coin. I would not get more than 1 sticker unless I was intending to sell my coins and I thought another sticker would add additional value

This is the only picture I have of it but I think this sticker said "MDC" which is short for Mad Dog Coins? If I recall there was also a picture of a bulldog on the sticker. I couldn't find any info about it and it was scraped off almost immediately.

It seemed extremely scammy... Like it was designed to look exactly like a CAC bean. On top of that, I couldn't find a single thing online about it. When I posted it here sometime ago no one could tell me anything about it.

In terms of value, you know better than I so I'll trust your word but, for example, trying to sell coins with EEPS has not ever netted me an extra dollar in price. I would be very surprised if that sticker even added $10.00 in value.

No. And QA Check is for moderns, whose Venn diagram with post-colonial copper looks like O O

Yeah. I don't think you could get more than 3 of the 5 stickers on any one coin.

Okay, so assuming it’s an Indian cent or a Flying Eagle for EERC Photoseal, you could also add CAC and CMQ. No WINGS or QA✔️? What about Watch Dog and Stew’s Red Copper? Or MAC?

I leave Doug Winter decals on back of slabs. If he has sold it, the coin has his imprimatur as properly graded and not processed. For 19th century gold, that is saying something.

Are there any other stickering services started after CMQ?
Is there any website that specifically tracks all stickering services?
