At the monthly show today, a dealer friend who knows I like “neat stuff “ recommended I see something new another dealer had just acquired in an old estate from upstate NY. Supposedly off the market for 40 years, and that seemed believable, so it should pre-date the flood of Chinese type counterfeits running amok.
He graciously allowed me to study and photograph the piece. Let me know your thoughts!

That one is pretty freakin amazing, as well as original and eye appealing.
Tough one. There's something off about it. The Color seems fake
Genuine,imo
Thanks Fred, I was hoping for your valued opinion on this one.
It has the coloring of a cast counterfeit. How were the edges of the piece?

Good point and darn it, I didn’t think to study the edges.
I will say the high points were not nearly as bright in hand. The photos were quite dark and and I needed to do some editing to show the details.
How about the weight? If real there looks to be enough there to be within tolerance compared to a cast iron fake.
