Looks like a filled die, the letter in the die was clogged with grease or debris causing the letter to not strike properly. Not really rare, but still nice to find. Too bad about the damage on the reverse.
No, not rare. It is known as a partial Grease Filled Die. Not really enough to warrant
any premium plus the damage reduces its value to the copper content.
