June 1993 Long Beach expo (King of Siam 1804 dollar)

Is anyone familiar with this 1 oz silver coin from the June 1993 LB show? It's sealed in a plastic holder. I found it in a box of stuff the other day. Thanks.

Don't recall seeing that one before.

Probably comissioned by Spectrum or Long Beach Expo and offered the silver rounds starting there. Wonder how many were made and how many have survived. Thought I've seen the same or similar obverse on other rounds. Don't know if it would carry any premium.

Spectrum bought the set at the Superior January 1993 auction for around $1.8 Million. Here is the catalog on NNP:

Seems like they had it a few years and used it in advertising marketing a lot.

The reference to "...COMPLETE SET FIRST TIME DISPLAYED..." refers to two empty openings in the case as seen in the auction and all previous appearances. It was then added to by Spectrum with a Proof 1834 Half Dime and a gold medal thought to be used in the set originally.

Here is the set provenance from PCGS CoinFacts:

    https://pcgs.com/coinfacts/coin/1804-10-plain-4/8570

"Part of the King of Siam Set (the following pedigree information is for the complete set):

U.S. Mint - King Ph'ra Nang Klao (Rama III) of Siam - King Rama III - King Rama IV - Anna Leonowens and her descendants (unconfirmed) - purchased in 1962 by David Spink and displayed at the 1962 American Numismatic Association in Atlanta, Georgia - Lester Merkin - sold in 1979 to Elvin I. Cool round. Definitely worth a premium over spot.

I don't remember this piece but I certainly remember seeing the display of the coins at the show!
