Sad to hear. One guy I knew set up near me at shows died in 2020 at 78 (Covid). I remember him when I first setup in 1990 at some guys table stacking $20 DE in flips to buy (send in to our hosts?).

Prayers to his family and friends. I remember him as he had brick and mortar shop that I had visited several times back in Alpharetta in the 2000 - 2005 time frame. Very helpful and knowledgeable. I acquired my 1st 20$ gold pieces from him as well as one of my first pattern pieces, a 1882 Liberty head 5C pieces, - fond memories indeed.

Sorry to hear of his passing - condolences to his family and loved ones.

Didn't know him personally but recall the days when he was a major pattern buyer/bidder for Charles Anderson, whose collection was subsumed by Simpson (correct me if I'm wrong on those details).

In 1974 John brought the entire Dr. Conway Bolt collection of error coins to my office in Beverly Hills and offered it to me – I bought it- 2,000 type coin errors – the largest error collection of its type.
He was part of World Wide Coins, in Atlanta at that time.

I think John celebrated the entire Long Beach show!

Condolences to all who knew him.

Weather we knew some of these old-time dealers or not, it's sad to hear about their passings. I guess we associate them with some of our early impressionable days and it' s hard to hear they're gone now.

Oh, wow. Another big name I’ve seen in the trades and mags for decades has passed. Getting Harry Miller vibes. Sad.

Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.
