Not the Capitol Punisher! This is another one that hurts. Back in the early 70's, he was one of my faves, along with Killebrew, Aaron and Frank Robinson.

As I stated on the sports talk side, him and Boog Powell were the Aaron Judge of their times. Both HR bombers of immense size.

Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".
  • Before Judge and Altuve, there was Howard and Patek.

He should have been in the Hall of Fame.

Modern analytics embrace him. He played in an era of pitching dominance. In 1968, the Year of the Pitcher — after which MLB lowered the mound to even the fight — Howard hit 44 homers.

    Rebirth. Renewal. Transformation.

He's in their Ring of Honor, that's gotta count for something right? I guess his career was too short and his lifetime stat line is too weak.

I was there when Frank Howard hit a home run out of Tiger Stadium. he was one of only four players (Howard, Killebrew, Cecil Fielder and McGwire) to clear the left field roof. RIP Frank.
