    While u guys are out getting these old pitchers, the Cubbies are getting ready for next season. Expect a much better team next season. Why? Here's why:

    1.One of the best young pitching staff in the majors. Wood, Prior, Clement, Cruz, Zambrano, and Lieber is still good for 15 wins.
    2.Moises Alou should start the season at full strength.
    3.Corey Patterson will have one year of everyday ball under his belt and should be much improved.
    4.Bobby Hill will have had enough time to develop at AAA to become the Cubs everyday 2nd baseman.
    5.Bruce Kimm will be able to work with the players more in the offseason.

    Also, if the Phillies don't trade Scott Rolen, he's expressed some interest in coming to Chicago via free agency next season even though I say send Bill Mueller and either Alfonseca or Gordon (what good are two closers on one team?) to the Phillies for Scott Rolen.

    sorry but i had to laugh at your 2nd reason..that guys been hurt every year the past i don't know how many years..it dosen't matter if he's at full stength in the beginning of the year or not, he always ends up on the i.r

    he's been in the league, what 10+ years and has what 2 seasons of 30 hr's and maybe 4 or 5 years of 100 rbi's..wouldn't call that a guarantee
