1969 D Floating Roof Value

I have a question. I am new to this forum and to collecting as well. I recently found a 1969 D Lincoln Floating roof cent. It is not in the best condition, in fact its a bit worn. What is the value for the floating roof cent? I have a couple photos but they are the best I could capture with this obsolete camera. Thanks for taking time to read.

There was some hype about these for a while, but it soon became apparent that they are pretty common, and the grading services stopped recognizing them as a variety. They are the result of an over polished die. They may still bring a premium on ebay, but they are no longer really considered a "thing".

  • Thank you for your reply. Have you ever seen a coin with what appears to be a hologram ink pattern on one side or is this some thing done after mint.

I have been debating whether to ask this question. I hate to sound naive but thats why Im here. To ask and learn.

Ask away, that's what the forum is for! My opinion, that is some kind of stain or toning from something the coin came into contact with after it left the mint.

Please start a new post for each coin. It gets confusing with more than one on the same post.

Looks like the dime was squeezed in a vice that had diamond shaped Jaws.

Floating roof cents were common on 1969 and 1970. Not really much of a premium on them though.

  • It looks like a hologram ink. when u look at the top its not too visible but when you look at it at an angle, you can see the pattern.

Unless they are in High MS Condition.

I still pull out of circulation 1969 and 1970 floating roof cents. Don't really know why I still do it, but a habit is a habit. they are kind of neat, but a dime a dozen too.
