Some Incorrect Comments About the Number of People on the US Coin Forum at a Given Time
![FlyingAl](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/ESNJMS9TYYLO/n3P92BQE5TKBZ.jpg)
I have seen a lot of comments about how "there are only a handful of members on the US coin forum nowadays" and they reference the counter you can see on the right side of your that shows who's online.
As I type this, I am, according to that counter, the only member on this forum right now.
However, when you go out to the forum list, and look at that counter, a whopping 341 members are on right now, including several members I guarantee are on the US coin forum.
As such, the count is incorrect due to a coding error and does not reflect an accurate number. The forum is not dying, and numbers are very similar to where they were two years ago when I joined, if not higher.

Click on "Home" and you see a huge list of members currently online. Click on "U.S. Coin Forum" and it's only showing a small subset of the people online. I too see lots of regular participants of the U.S. Coin Forum that are currently online, yet are not listed as being online in the U.S. Coin Forum; I agree that this looks like a glitch.
Took these just now:
Home:
U.S. Coin Forum:
I have 83 tabs (windows) open on my iPhone, one of which is this forum- does that count even though I’m not actually ON the forum?
Yes
When I took my screenshots above, you showed up as online on the Home page, but not the U.S. Coin Forum page.
I never log out and I don't shut off my computer so I should be online 24 7![:) :)](https://forums.collectors.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

If you subtract the number of guests, there are only about 100 members online currently. Of course this is much more than the U.S. coin forum section says.
Type collector, mainly into Seated. -formerly Ownerofawheatiehorde. Good BST transactions with: mirabela, OKCC, MICHAELDIXON, Gerard
Everyone may not be in the U.S. forum either, could be BST, World etc.
Successful BST with ad4400, Kccoin, lablover, pointfivezero, koynekwest, jwitten, coin22lover, HalfDimeDude, erwindoc, jyzskowsi, COINS MAKE CENTS, AlanSki, BryceM
Just going astray a little bit, it reminds me of a government provided statistic, when they say that about 80 million Americans are obese. These, of course, are round figures! 😂

I would say 5-10 quote trolls. Their useless garbage is like a mini blog of absurdity.
I resemble that remark! The round part.
That is one side.
And some of us hide in the shadows.
Never knew that feature was available.
I think the more interesting metric would be to see a trend of comment volumes over time.
I use it to keep all the ladies from sliding into the DMs.
Are you sure they’re “ladies?”
@Floridafacelifter not sure at all. But it's exciting.

Every thread gets a unique largely sequential number

That gives you a way to track the # of threads created over time.

My phone is always logged in, but when I’m not on here, I close the browser, so I’m assuming I would disappear from the list?

Either way, the quantity, quality, and allure of the content doesn't seem to be quite what it was 10 years ago. Perhaps the way I see it has changed, but a TON of quality folks just aren't here any more.
I can't disagree with that.
